Glenview police are continuing to investigate a “vehicular hijacking” in which a Mercedes was stolen from a gas station by a masked man.
Glenview police responded to a Costco Gas Station at 2930 Patriot Boulevard shortly before 12 a.m. on Dec. 20 on a report of a vehicular hijacking, police said. A preliminary investigation revealed that the owner of a Mercedes sedan was getting gas when they saw a man wearing black clothing and a black ski mask enter the driver’s side door, start the car, and start to pull away, according to police.
The vehicle owner attempted to reenter the Mercedes though the front passenger door but fell and sustain a non-life-threatening injury to their leg, police said. The Mercedes continued to be driven out of the parking lot in an unknown direction and was last seen driving east on I94 at a high rate of speed, they said.
