Crestwood

ARMED ROBBERY: Two individuals took cash and phones at gunpoint at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the Verizon store, 13348 Cicero Ave. The two employees were forced to the rear of the store, but uninjured, police said.

Evergreen Park

CIGARETTE THEFT: Two men reportedly went behind the counter at Circle K, 10258 Kedzie Ave., Nov. 26, stole 60 cartons of cigarettes and then fled in a silver car.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Damian Gomez, 19, Chicago, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault Dec. 4 in the 2500 block of 95th Street after officers recovered a BB gun from him on a complaint that he had implied to another citizen that he had a weapon, police said.

New Lenox

CIGARETTE THEFT: A Joliet man was booked into the Will County Jail Dec. 8, charged with taking 60 cartons of cigarettes from a New Lenox gas station, according to police and sheriff’s records online. Arierous E. King, 33, and another man entered the Speedway, 800 Maple St., shoved the clerk aside and fled with the merchandise Dec. 5, police said. King remained jailed Wednesday morning, sheriff’s records show.

Oak Lawn

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: A drive-through employee at Shark’s, 8712 Cicero Ave., told police a male customer pointed a handgun at him at about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 23, while awaiting his order.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A main door at a single-family home on Stevens Drive was forced open, the home ransacked and $10,000 cash stolen between 6:40 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Nov. 23.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: The padlocked rear door of a secured, fire-damaged apartment on Mayfield Avenue was reported pried open Nov. 25, with personal items valued at more than $12,000 taken.

Orland Park

HOME SAVED: The Orland Fire District is crediting fire crews’ quick action Friday with preventing a fire in an attached garage from spreading into the home. No one was injured in the 11:34 p.m. fire, but the ranch-style house in the 15200 block of Stradford Lane had smoke damage, the district said in a statement. Orland Park Police stayed with the homeowners until they could be evaluated by fire personnel. The fire’s cause is under investigation.

DUI CRASH: An Oak Lawn woman was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit Nov. 22 after leaving the road in the 7400 block of 159th Street and driving into a tree and a telecommunications box, police said. Anna M. Gavros, 54, 4300 block of 103rd Street, was also accused of illegally transporting alcohol, driving without insurance, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and improper lane use, police said.

Park Forest

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Andrew R. Tyms Jr., 20, first block of Schoolhouse Court, Park Forest, went to the police station Nov. 25 after learning his car was towed under a Will County seizure order, police said. He was charged with aggravated assault at 10:51 a.m. in the lobby after repeatedly threatening to spit in the faces of two officers while lunging toward them and was also charged with aggravated resisting arrest at 1:38 p.m. after grappling with an officer trying to handcuff him, police said. Officers also accused Tyms of disorderly conduct/misusing 911, a misdemeanor, after he called in a complaint that they had stolen his car keys, police said.

DUI CRASH: An Orland Park man accused of crashing into a tree near the Mohawk Primary Center school Nov. 19 was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit, driving without a valid license, hit-run and driving on suspended registration, police said. Michael A. Socki, 37, 8900 block of Barleycorn Court, told officers a 13-year-old relative had driven his car into the tree when they apprehended him walking in the 300 block of Shabbona Drive, police said. Socki is scheduled to appear in Cook County court/Markham Jan. 17.

DRUG SALES: A Country Club Hills man was arrested Nov. 22 after officers recovered a suspected sedative-hypnotic drug from four aluminum foil packets and $747.89 cash in his pocket during a traffic stop, police said. Joshua J. Hester, 39, 17600 block of Baker Street, Country Club Hills, is accused of delivering a controlled substance, obstructing justice by destroying evidence and obstructing justice by providing an alias, police said. Hester was arrested at Western Avenue and Indianwood Boulearvard after a 1-mile pursuit from Western Avenue at 26th Street for driving with an illegally tinted windshield, police said. Hester was also charged with drunken driving, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under a combination of drugs and alcohol, speeding, improper lane use, no insurance and having an illegally tinted windshield, police said.

Steger

GUN DISPLAYED: An unidentified male pointed a gun at a woman when she interrupted the theft of her car Friday in an apartment building parking lot in the 300 block of 35th Street. The woman, who was uninjured, told police she heard glass breaking, went into the lot and encountered the male and four others, who all fled, leaving the woman’s car damaged but unstolen.

Tinley Park

ROBBERY ARREST: Two Chicago men accused of trying to rob a 72-year-old woman Dec. 5 in the Jewel parking lot, 17117 Harlem Ave., are scheduled to appear in Cook County court/Bridgeview Jan. 2, charged with attempted robbery, according to police and Cook County sheriff’s records online. Jarrell Shaw, 32, and Sean Williams, 33, were charged Wednesday. Williams approached the woman on foot, displayed a handgun, demanded her valuables and briefly struggled with her before returning to Shaw empty-handed, police said. Tinley Park detectives used a computerized license-plate-reading camera system to obtain the car’s plate number, which they matched to the owner’s address in Harvey, police said. Detectives arrested Shaw and Williams after recovering a handgun from the car, police said.

University Park

COCAINE ARREST: University Park police booked Javery L. Johnson, 47, 4100 block of 192nd Court, Country Club Hills, into the Will County Jail Dec. 6 on a four-count indictment for illegally selling and possessing cocaine, according to sheriff’s records online. Johnson is charged with one count of manufacturing/delivering 400-899 grams of cocaine, one count of manufacturing/delivering more than 900 grams of cocaine and possession of those amounts of cocaine, according to court records.
