Two Naperville men have been charged with beating a man and breaking into a Naperville apartment early Thanksgiving morning, according to the DuPage State’s Attorney’s Office and Naperville Police Department.
Daggio Castillo, 22, of the 2500 block of Oneida Lane, and Jeremy Gundlach, 21, of the 100 block of Testa Drive, drove to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of West Jefferson Avenue to confront a man with whom they had been in contact the previous night, the report said.
When they found the man outside at about 1 a.m., they allegedly attacked the victim, leaving him with a broken nose and fractures to bones in his face. They then allegedly kicked in the door of an apartment in the complex and made verbal threats to the occupant, the release said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to require surgery as a result of the attack, officials said.
Castillo and Gundlach were charged with home invasion, a class X felony, and aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. They are being held in the DuPage County jail after being denied pre-trial release Friday by Judge Anthony Coco.
“The type of senseless, violent attack that sent an innocent man to the hospital with serious facial injuries, as alleged in this case, has no place in civilized society and will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
Castillo and Gundlach are next scheduled to be in court Dec. 18.
