RESTAURANT BURGLARY: Cash was reported stolen Tuesday from the Unidad restaurant, 3339 95th St., during an overnight break-in. Entry may have been made through a broken window.
ILLEGAL GUN: Jovanny Vargas, 27, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon at 1:15 a.m. Saturday at OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center after he was found to have a handgun while grappling with hospital staff, police said.
ARMED ROBBERY: Two individuals wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns stole cash and a wallet from an individual at approximately 8:15 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 2500 block of 95th Street.
ARMED ROBBERY: Three individuals wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns entered the 7-Eleven, 3440 95th St., at 12:32 a.m. Oct. 2 and ordered the clerk to open the register, fleeing with cigarettes and cash in a vehicle reported stolen out of Chicago.
ATTACK DOG: Herbert Carrasquillo, 55, 8900 block of Richmond Avenue, was arrested Sept. 30 at 89th Street and Sacramento Avenue and accused of reckless conduct after his dog bit a boy, on his order, police said.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: A Sept. 26 suspicious vehicle call in a department store parking lot in the 2500 block of 95th Street turned up a stolen car and five occupants, two of them with illegal guns, police said. Chase Hardiman, 19, Chicago, was charged with possessing a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated resisting and resisting a peace officer and Amarion Brown, 18, Chicago, and Marquaz Whitfield, 20, 16800 block of Head Avenue, Hazel Crest, were charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said. Brown and Whitfield are also charged with resisting, as well as criminal trespass to a vehicle, police said. A fourth man, Shannon Stephens, 21, Chicago, was also arrested and accused of criminal trespass to a vehicle, police said. Officers also detained a female juvenile, police said.

DATING ARREST: A Dolton man who allegedly used an online app to meet, and steal from, his dates in different jurisdictions was taken into custody Monday near the intersection of Stoney Island Avenue and Thornton-Lansing Road after a short foot chase, police said. Davon T. Fullilove, 27, undisclosed address, was booked into Cook County Jail on a felony theft charge and outstanding warrants from Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, police said. He was being held without bond Wednesday, according to sheriff’s records online.

TRAFFIC MESS: A 33-year-old truck driver brought traffic to a standstill Sept. 15, interrupting AT&T, Comcast and ComEd service and damaging a private home and personal vehicle when he hit three utility poles, police said. Robert Peters, 33, Princeton, was transporting an oversized load on Court Street at the time, police said. Peters, cited by Illinois State Police for operating an overweight vehicle, is scheduled to return to Will County circuit court Nov. 1, according to court records online.
BATTERY: An 18-year-old former health food store employee punched a juvenile employee multiple times in the head when the younger teen prevented him from ringing up his own purchase, police said. Lucas D. Proudfoot, 200 block of Sonoma Road, New Lenox, is scheduled to appear at a bench trial Nov. 20 on assault and battery charges, according to Will County court records online. Proudfoot, 18, scuffled with the employee at Protein Headquarters, 1417 E. Lincoln Highway, Sept. 3 after going behind the counter and attempting to use the register, police said.

DUI CRASH: An Orland Park woman who hit a car at 143rd Street and Ravinia Avenue before slamming into a second vehicle at 143rd Street and 82nd Avenue was arrested at the second crash and subsequently accused of drunken driving, police said. Ann K. Slattery, 28, 8000 block of Forestview Drive, was taken into custody Sept. 20, with additional accusations of hit-run, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and driving without insurance, police said.
DRUGGED DRIVING: A Calumet City man found unconscious on the ground 5 feet from his open car door had a crushed pill, nearly 100 grams of adult-use cannabis and gummies, “cannabis-packaging envelopes,” a digital scale and a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the car, police said. Officers arrested Vernice M. Blalock, 31, 1600 block of Astor Street, at 3 a.m. Sept. 23 in the 14300 block of Union Avenue on accusations of illegally possessing a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, drunken driving, unlawful use of a weapon, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance, police said. Blalock, who also told police he’d been to a bar, was transported to a medical facility for treatment, police said.
PEORIA ARSONIST: A Peoria man found sleeping outside a home-improvement center turned out to be convicted of arson and wanted for violating probation, police said. Desmond D. Turner, 31, was taken into custody Sept. 25 in the 15600 block of La Grange Road on a probation-revocation warrant, according to police and Peoria County court records. Turner was convicted in January of setting fire to a home in Peoria in June 2021, knowing people were inside, according to court records online. He was subsequently sentenced to 30 months’ probation and credited with 260 days served in jail, court records show.

PARAMEDIC THREATENED: A man who threatened a paramedic while being transported to a hospital was arrested Sept. 26 by Lynwood police executing a warrant, according to police and Will County sheriff’s records online. Terry A. Callebert, 57, 2061 E. Lincoln Highway, is charged with unlawful use of a Blackjack/knife, court records show in connection with a Feb. 1 threat at a convenience store in the 3400 block of Chicago Road. During transport, Callebert threatened to slice the throat of the attending paramedic, police said. Hospital staff later recovered a folding knife from Callebert, police said.

TEENS SHOT: A University Park area teen remained in critical condition Wednesday at a Chicago area hospital after being shot early Saturday at his home northeast of Western Avenue and Exchange Street, Will County sheriff’s police said. The 17-year-old and two other teens were hit by bullets at about 4:30 a.m. shot through a window of their home in the 2200 block of Wolpers Road, sheriff’s police said, terming it a targeted attack. Responding deputies immediately applied tourniquets and chest seals to the three to control blood loss. The two less seriously injured teens were transported to a hospital and are expected to survive, sheriff’s police said. Several other persons inside the home were uninjured, sheriff’s police said.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Cortez J. Michalski, 25, 700 block of Burnham Drive, University Park, is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Thursday, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of aggravated domestic battery and two counts of unlawful restraint, according to Will County court records online. University Park police arrested Michalski Oct. 6 on a warrant charging him with six felonies and 11 misdemeanors, court records show.
