An Adlai Stevenson High School student was charged with disorderly conduct after police said he brought a pellet gun to school Tuesday.
School resource officers responded to reports of a student with a gun inside the school at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the village of Lincolnshire — where the school is located. Additional officers arrived, and a short time later located a juvenile matching a description given by witnesses.
Police said the student had an airsoft pistol, which resembles a real firearm but shoots plastic pellets. He did not make any threats to fellow students or staff, police said.
He was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and released to the custody of a guardian, police said.
Stevenson is the lone school in Adlai Stevenson School District 125, with more than 4,300 students enrolled. The school serves several towns in addition to Lincolnshire, including portions of Buffalo Grove.
