WEAPON OFFENSE: Todd Sherman, 50, undisclosed address, Mokena, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault July 29 in the 4200 block of 167th Street after threatening an ATM technician with a BB gun that looked like a bullet-based pistol, police said.
Frankfort
DUI: Levar D. Brooks, 43, Chicago, is scheduled to appear in Will County circuit court Aug. 30 on two counts of aggravated drunken driving and one count of driving on a license revoked for drunken driving, according to court records online. Brooks’ blood-alcohol concentration was above the legal limit when officers took him into custody during a traffic stop for speeding July 22 on La Grange Road, about 1 mile north of Lincoln Highway, police said.

Lockport Township
RECKLESS GUNPLAY: David J. Cameron, 60, 1000 block of Northern Drive, Lockport Township, was arrested and accused of recklessly discharging a firearm after he shot at the tire of a relative’s vehicle departing that block around 9 p.m. Friday, Will County sheriff’s police said.
Mokena
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: A Rockford man whose resistance to efforts to remove him from a vehicle included biting a sergeant’s finger and kicking another officer in the groin and stomach is charged with two counts of aggravated battery to an officer, according to police and Will County circuit court records online. Jonathan J. Cintora, 26, Rockford, a passenger in a vehicle stopped July 31 in the 8800 block of 191st Street, disregarded a warning and continued resisting after police used a Taser, police said. The driver, Tania I. Villegas, 25, Rockford, is charged with aggravated drunken driving/suspended license, according to court records. Villegas didn’t respond to efforts to stop her and drove into oncoming traffic on 191st Street twice, before careening into parking blocks at a gas station/car wash, police said. Cintora and Villegas are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 21.
New Lenox
BOMB HOAX: Nine nearby agencies helped search Silver Cross Hospital during a three-hour nighttime lockdown Aug. 1 prompted by a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax, police said. The department is still investigating the phoned-in threat, which came in at about 10:30 p.m., police said. The caller said 12 explosives were set to go off in 20 minutes and would be followed by shootings, police said. Responders, including bomb sniffing dogs from the Will and Cook county sheriff’s departments and from Illinois State Police, searched the hospital campus and found no explosives or suspicious items, police said.
WIRE FRAUD: A 23-year-old New York man accused of fraudulently withdrawing $25,000 out of a New Lenox couple’s bank account in 2021 was booked into the Will County jail Aug. 1 by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to police and sheriff’s records online. Joseph S. Grant Jr. is scheduled to appear in Will County circuit court Oct. 17 on theft by deception and wire fraud, according to court records online. The victims reported in November 2021 that someone had withdrawn the money in September 2021, using their bank information.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: A New Lenox man accused of attacking a nurse at Silver Cross Hospital in December was booked into the Will County jail on an arrest warrant issued in July, according to police and sheriff’s records online. Michael G. Kimball, 50, 800 block of Eastwind Drive, New Lenox, is charged with aggravated battery in connection with the alleged Dec. 21 battery, according to Will County circuit court records online. The victim told officers Kimball struck him in the chest with the handle-end of a butter knife, police said.
Orland Park
STOLEN CAR: Dontae M. Boykin Jr., 20, Holland, Michigan, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle July 21 following a retail theft investigation at Jewel-Osco, 9350 159th St., police said. Officers determined the vehicle Boykin drove to the store was stolen, confronted him as he left the store and chased him one-half mile to the 15600 block of La Grange Road, where they found him hiding behind bushes, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: A Blue Island man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a stolen .45 caliber handgun under his floor mat during a July 28 traffic stop in the 15100 block of La Grange Road, police said. Tyrone T. Alexander, 35, 2800 block of 141st Street, was also accused of unlawfully possessing ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card and driving on a suspended license, police said. The recovered gun, stolen out of Mississippi, had a bullet in the chamber and ammunition in an extended magazine, police said.
RETAIL THEFT: David J. Robinson, 35, Gary, Indiana, was arrested and accused of retail theft July 26 after officers responding to a call from Target, 15850 94th Ave., found him pushing a shopping cart loaded with loose cans of baby formula, police said. Robinson, who self-identified as an addict, told officers he had planned to take the 14 cans on a bus to Harvey, where he would sell them on the street, police said. The cans collectively retail for $606.86, police said.
FRAUD: Lakendra M. Brown, 37, Calumet City, was charged with using a credit/debit card with intent to defraud, theft of more than $500 and identity theft July 31 at Macy’s, 1 Orland Square Drive, police said. Brown, an employee, used a credit/debit card belonging to another person to ring up 12 transactions totaling $1,997.24 over a nine-day period in July, police said.
Palos Hills
ROAD RAGE: Paulius Kruzinauskas, 40, first block of Lucas Drive, Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of battery during a July 27 “road rage” battery in the 7600 block of 111th Street, police said.
CARS STOLEN: An unlocked Hyundai Elantra with the keys inside was reported stolen July 31 from a residential driveway in the 10000 block of 83rd Avenue and an unlocked Buick Envision with keys in a nearby vehicle was reported stolen Aug. 6 from the 7800 block of 99th Place. The Buick was recovered in Harvey.
ILLEGAL GUN: Damien M. McCollum, 29, undisclosed address, Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Aug. 4 in the 8500 block of 101st Terrace after officers recovered a gun from him during an ambulance assistance call and then determined his firearm owner’s identification card was suspended, police said.
Park Forest
BURGLARY: A refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher and microwave oven were reported stolen July 28 from an unoccupied home in the 200 block of Marquette Street. The complainant, returning to the property after a five-day absence, also reported finding the lockbox pried open.
RECOVERED CAR: A July 26 reckless driving investigation at Western Avenue and Sauk Trail ended up at Monee Road and Indianwood Boulevard with the vehicle’s driver and passenger turned over to Country Club Hills officers on a shoplifting charge and the car turned over to Crete officers, who had reported it stolen, police said.
Peotone Township
GUN BATTLE: A resident in the 28000 block of 80th Avenue traded shots at about 3:45 a.m. Monday with two males who had exited an SUV near the residence. The two fled in a Silverado, which they abandoned in the 8000 block of Offner Road, Will County sheriff’s deputies said. Responding deputies found the Volkswagen, stolen from Skokie, with a broken window and “gasoline poured throughout the inside,” sheriff’s police said.

DOG FIGHT: A 32-pound bulldog/French bulldog mix was treated for wounds to his tongue and chin July 24 after an evening encounter with a female pit bull mix in an undisclosed block of 159th Place, police said. The battery prompted a spate of 911 emergency calls, with one caller later telling a responding officer the unleashed female dog ran at the leashed male, who jumped in front of its owner as the owner’s child ducked behind her, police said. However, a second witness said the male was the aggressor and the female was leashed at the time, police said. The officer turned the issue over to animal control, issuing no citations because the owner was out of town, police said.
