Outdoor Storytimes

Summer is in full swing and what better way to enjoy the sunshine than an outdoor storytime? Grab the family and join our staff for stories, music, puppet shows and more.

Picnic in the Park at 95th Street Library — 10:30 a.m. Mondays;

Read with Your Stuffed Animal

Bring your favorite stuffed animal to this special storytime as we give a voice to some of our favorite animals and create a fun, animal-themed craft. Bring your fuzzy friend to 95th Street Library at 10:30 a.m. July 18, Nichols Library at 10:30 a.m. July 25 or Naper Blvd. Library at 4 p.m. Aug. 15.

Kindness Rocks!

Let’s spread some kindness with rock art! Paint rocks with bright colors and kind, inspirational messages. Leave them around town for people to find or take them home to share. Get crafty with us at 3 p.m. July 13 at Nichols Library, 11:30 a.m. July 19 at 95th Street Library or 3 p.m. July 27 at Naper Blvd. Library.

DiversiTEEN Book Club

Discuss the best of the best of diverse authors and books with other teens while enjoying tasty treats! Join us at 4 p.m. July 21 and Aug. 18 at Nichols Library. *Registration is required.

Teen Poetry Workshop and Open Mic

Nervous about starting high school? Join us at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 at Nichols Library as our panel of teen experts shows you the ropes and answers any questions you might have about lunch breaks, homework and more!

Barbie: History of America’s Most Famous Doll

Can’t wait for the “Barbie” movie and ready to take a deep dive into the history of America’s most famous doll? In this illustrated lecture, historian Leslie Goddard delves into the history of Barbie and her inventor, the passionately creative and intensely competitive Ruth Handler.

Learn what inspired Handler to develop Barbie in 1959, how Barbie helped make Mattel one of the world’s most successful toy companies and what Barbie’s impact has been on American culture at 7 p.m. July 25 at 95th Street Library.

Altered Book Club: Crafternoon

Meet and join a community of altered books crafters of all experience levels for some dedicated craft time at 1 p.m. July 29 at 95th Street Library. Art supplies, recycled materials and library equipment will be provided. Register at napervillepl.librarycalendar.com/event/altered-books-club-13.

Retro Movie Mondays

Grab some popcorn and meet us at 95th Street Library at 1 p.m. every Monday through Aug. 28 for Retro Movie Mondays! Enjoy a blast from the past as we watch films from the 1970s and earlier with a moderated discussion following each screening.

Movies include “The Scarlet Pimpernel” featuring Jane Seymour and Anthony Andrews, 1951’s “Royal Wedding” starring Fred Astaire and Jane Powell and more.
