Park Ridge aldermen will hear about data collected from the intersection of Glenview Avenue and Northwest Highway after residents told council members that the intersection, which is near District 64’s Franklin Elementary School, is not safe.
Residents Tom and Elana Cepa have led the charge, marshaling neighbors to email city officials and make public comments about their fears regarding the crossing.

Tom Cepa appeared at the June 19 City Council meeting to inform aldermen that the sign cautioning drivers to watch for pedestrians had been hit and buckled.
“I’m trying my best to show you how dangerous this crosswalk is,” he said.
At the May 15 City Council meeting and in messages to the city, residents said they had seen drivers mistreat crossing guards who were working the intersection and some said they had nearly been hit by drivers in a hurry.
In the days following the initial round of comments, a portable speed monitor appeared at the intersection to tell motorists how quickly they were driving.
Since then, the Cepas have been sending periodic emails to about 25 recipients asking for video clips of traffic at the intersection to send to the city.
A hearing on the matter is set for July 10, Tom Cepa said in an email.
