
An array of drop-in activities and a dance performance will highlight the 10th annual Juneteenth Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sand Ridge Nature Center in South Holland.
After a 10:15 a.m. opening ceremony conducted by Cook County officials that will include the singing of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the nature center will offer hands-on fun, including guided walks, opportunities to make art including tie-dye and creative reuse materials and historical displays and trivia.
A cultural dance and drum performance by the Najwa Dance Corps will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Camp Shabbona Woods, a short hike through the woods from Sand Ridge’s nature center area at 15891 Paxton Ave.
A yoga program, Self-Love in Nature: Gentle Yoga, Inner Light Meditation, & Painting, is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the adjacent Green Lake Woods. Registration for the yoga program is required at 708-868-0606 or emailing [email protected].
