Jason’s Deli closes in Oak Lawn

Jason’s Deli, which had been open in Oak Lawn for more than 10 years, closed its doors for the last time May 31.

According to employees, the Beaumont, Texas-based restaurant at 6260 W. 95th St. closed because the lease was up and the company decided not to renew. Messages to the company were not returned.

There are still three Jason’s Delis in the Chicago area — in the South Loop, Naperville and Oak Brook. Their menu includes sandwiches, wraps, baked potatoes, pasta, soups, salads and desserts, as well as catering items such as boxed lunches.

The chain of fast casual restaurants was founded in 1976 in Beaumont by Joe Tortorice Jr. There are currently over 245 locations in 29 states.

Advocate Christ adopts robotic tech for heart care

Stereotaxis, the global leader in robotic technologies for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, announced the first treatment of patients with a newly launched Genesis Robotic Magnetic Navigation system at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Electrophysiologists at the hospital have treated over 2,000 patients using advanced robotic technology. The hospital is now among the first in the world, and the first in Chicago, to offer the Genesis RMN system to patients.

Robotic Magnetic Navigation introduces the benefits of robotic precision and safety to cardiac ablation, a common minimally invasive procedure to treat arrhythmias. Arrhythmias — abnormal heart rhythms that result when the heart beats too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular pattern — may significantly increase the risk of stroke, heart failure and sudden cardiac arrest.
