Beecher

CARJACKING ALLEGED: A LaPorte, Indiana, man accused of carjacking a Beecher Community School District employee’s vehicle May 19 has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking/handicapped person, aggravated vehicular hijacking/elderly person, aggravated vehicular hijacking/school employee and possessing a controlled substance, according to Will County circuit court records online. Larry E. Taylor, 55, is scheduled to appear in court June 13, court records show.

BATTERY: Brandon L. Manago, 22, Manteno, was arrested and accused of aggravated battery to a police officer May 26 in the Hunter’s Chase subdivision while resisting arrest for drunken driving and illegally transporting open alcohol, police said. The officer, who received minor injuries, was summoned to perform a well-being check on Manago, who was in a motor vehicle, police said.

Crete

AGGRAVATED DRUNKEN DRIVING: The charges against a Crete-area teen involved in a 2021 single-vehicle crash that killed his passenger have been upgraded to a six-count felony, according to Will County circuit court records online. Shane Wieck Jr., 18, 26000 block of Winston Lane, was booked into the Will County jail Tuesday by Illinois State Police on two counts of aggravated drunken driving and four counts of reckless homicide, according to Will County sheriff’s records online. Wieck was driving with William L. Earls, 18, of Munster, on Illinois Route 1 south of Goodenow Road Oct. 6, 2021 when he went off the road, according to a state police accident report. Wieck is free on $25,000 bond, according to sheriff’s records.

Mokena

ILLEGAL GUN: A Dolton woman riding in a car stopped for a malfunctioning taillight was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers found a loaded .40 caliber handgun, with a bullet chambered, in her purse during the May 21 stop in the 19000 block of La Grange Road, police said. Taylor J. Bassett, 28, 14700 block of Minerva Avenue, Dolton, whose Firearm Owners Identification is revoked, is also being held on an arrest warrant out of Louisiana, and scheduled to return to court Tuesday, according to police and Will County sheriff’s records online.

Orland Park

FELONY DUI: A Chicago man was charged with aggravated drunken driving/three prior arrests after falling asleep in the intersection of 159th Street and La Grange Road midafternoon April 29. Lamar Frazier, 44, was also accused of driving on a revoked license, illegally transporting open alcohol and having suspended registration, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: A Tinley Park man was accused of unlawfully using a weapon after officers recovered a 9 mm handgun from the car he was driving during a May 14 traffic stop in the 10900 block of 159th Street, police said. Mohammad I. Allan, 29, 8800 block of Brown Lane, had a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card, but no concealed carry license for the weapon, loaded with 10 bullets, in the unlocked glove compartment, police said. Allan was also cited for reckless driving, speeding, running a red light, improper lane use and improper passing, police said.

FRAUD: Officers who stopped a stolen car May 25 in the 200 block of Orland Square Drive found a Justice man inside with three debit cards belonging to three other persons and merchandise collectively selling for $221.60 that he had purchased from a jewelry store using one of the cards, police said. The Cook County state’s attorney’s office charged Lamario T. Ferguson, 400 block of Sterling Street, with identity theft, unlawful use of a credit card and unlawful possession of another’s credit card. He is also accused of vehicular trespassing, a misdemeanor, police said.

Palos Hills

ILLEGAL GUN: Davion R. Hickland, 23, 1100 block of Amherst Lane, University Park, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a gun during a May 22 traffic stop in the 9800 block of 88th Avenue, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Justin M. Spilde, 41, 11100 block of Kean Avenue, was arrested and accused of violating the terms of his concealed carry license after officers recovered an undisclosed gun while taking him into custody for drunken driving and improperly possessing adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle May 27 in the 8200 block of Kean Avenue, police said.

Steger

THEFT: Two Park Forest men are charged with felony theft and burglary in connection with the May 23 theft of landscaping equipment valued at $1,300 from a vehicle in the 3700 block of Chicago Road, according to police and Will County circuit court records online. Investigators arrested Daniel E. Pollack, 31, and Jonathan A. Vasquez, 47, both of the 300 block of Neola Street, Friday. The two, who are also charged with misdemeanor theft and vehicular trespassing, are scheduled to return to court June 16, according to court records. They remained in the Will County jail Wednesday, where they are being held without bond, according to court and sheriff’s records online.
