Andrew students excel on National German Exam

This spring, three German 1 students at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park excelled in the National German Language Exam.

Freshmen Claire Carney, Hayden Cortez and Nathan Fortino scored in the 90th percentile of the Level 1 exam sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German. The three students received a Gold Medal and special recognition on the National German Exam Honor Roll for outstanding performance. In total, more than 15,500 students participated in the exam this year.

Oak Lawn’s Osgood wins international prize

Oak Lawn’s Peyton Osgood, an honors program student at McKendree University, is this year’s recipient of the Technos International Prize. The prize is given each year by the Tanaka Ikueikai Educational Trust for outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to the cause of international understanding.

Researchers shine at Undergraduate Research Festival

Homer Glen’s Emily Kalmanek, Oak Lawn’s Cara Lundy and Orland Park’s Faith Bibeau were among the more than 100 current University of Iowa students to participate in the 2023 Spring Undergraduate Research Festival.

New Lenox’s Moore receives Fulbright award

The Fulbright Program has selected New Lenox’s Marie Moore and 12 other University of Alabama students for various awards for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Moore is a 2023 Honors College summa cum laude graduate in secondary education and Spanish. She was a member of Mortar Board and the Carl A. Elliott Society. She was selected to teach English in Spain.
