A 16-year-old boy who died May 8 after he was found fatally injured near the Union Pacific railroad tracks in the north suburb committed suicide, the Cook County Medical Examiners office said Thursday.

Zidan Raad, 16, of the 1300 block of Greenwillow Lane in Glenview, was found unconscious and seriously injured near the Union Pacific railroad tracks, close to the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue, May 8 shortly after 6 p.m. by Glenview police responding to a report of an injured male subject, authorities said.

They said Raad was transported by ambulance to Lutheran General Hospital where he was “pronounced deceased” the same evening.

Police on Tuesday had said they were conducting a “death investigation” into the incident, and on Thursday the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Raad died from “multiple blunt force injuries due to a jump from height” and said the manner of death was “suicide.”
