A 73-year-old man reported to be having a medical emergency drove his vehicle into a Morton Grove hair salon building late Sunday night, according to Morton Grove Police.
Morton Grove Police Commander Dennis Johnson told Pioneer Press in an email that the incident, which took place at Zootcuts on the 7100 block of Dempster Street just before 11 p.m., was captured on video, but there were no witnesses.
“It appears the victim, a 73-year-old male, suffered a medical emergency and drove through the front of the closed business,” Johnson said.

The man was from Morton Grove and Morton Grove fire personnel took him to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, he said. The cause of death is not yet known but believed to be natural causes, he added.

Zootcuts is just two doors down from Lai Thai Restaurant and three doors down from Tava Restaurant, but employees at Lai Thai said everyone had gone home before the crash occurred.
Salon manager Beata Magiet said she was unable to immediately provide information when contacted by Pioneer Press.
A social media post by Zootcuts shows a picture of serious damage inside the salon.
“Last night, a car accidentally barreled into our salon,” the post reads. “Due to this unfortunate accident, we will be closed for the foreseeable future.”
A subsequent post states that Zootcuts stylists will be working out of the nearby Kohinoor Beauty Salon on a temporary basis.
