Returning trustees Al Paveza and Tony Sciappa. Both men won their unopposed elections in April. Sciappa in on his third term while Paveza is on his eighth, having served since 1995.

In addition, Trustee Guy Franzese was, again, approved as mayor pro-tem, meaning he will lead the meetings when and if Mayor Gary Grasso is absent.

“The president pro tem acts as mayor in official capacities,” explained village administrator Evan Walter.

Franzese thanked his colleagues, who voted for him unanimously, though Trustee Joe Snyder was absent.

“It’s truly a privilege to serve as a trustee and as the mayor pro tem. This is truly a great village,” said Franzese.

Beyond the ceremonial swear ins and the Franzese resolution, the trustees only had one other consideration before it — adopting the state municipal league’s pledge of civility in public meetings.

Walter explained to the board the village already abides by it, but it is intended to remind civic leaders to remain civil during meetings.

“Our code of conduct is quite clear and comprehensive, this just makes it clearer and I support this bill,” said Franzese.

The next meeting will be held May 22, at 6:30 p.m.
