
A North Aurora man has been charged with reckless homicide after allegedly driving under the influence and crashing into a motorcyclist in Batavia Sunday afternoon.

Luis Aca-Osorio, 38, of the 100 block of Dee Road, was also charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing the death of another, driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic offenses, Batavia police said in a news release.
Aca-Osorio was driving a Chevrolet van shortly after 5 p.m. on the 400 block of South River Street when it allegedly crashed into the rear of a motorcycle, causing the rider to be thrown from the motorcycle and critically injured, police said.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as Jeffrey Smith, 61, of West Chicago, who was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Aca-Osorio is being held at the Kane County jail, with bail set at $500,000. His next scheduled court date is May 25.
