Kaneland High School in Kaneville Township in Kane County was evacuated Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in a bathroom, officials said.

Classes were canceled for the rest of the day and students and staff were sent home, Kane County Sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Kane County deputies responded to the high school for a report of a fire around 8:29 a.m. They believe the fire was an isolated incident.

A heavy police and fire department presence remained at the school Wednesday as officials continued to investigate the fire.
