Last Saturday I was lost when I was out driving to an estate sale and I happened upon the fire station at 151st and 80th Avenue. I wanted to thank the two young firemen that helped me find my way by showing me directions on the computer. I’m very grateful to have people of that caliber taking care of the public just for simple tasks like this. They could not have been more welcoming and provided the information I needed. Thank you.

I hope that nobody gets killed or has a serious injury going down Brookside Glen Drive and Brookside Trail in Tinley Park. After over a week seeing a pallet of mulch with a tarp and heavy rocks holding it down I called the police. They said that they received many calls in regard to this obstruction but it was out of their jurisdiction and it was a homeowners association matter and hung up. I contacted the president of the association. Not only did he conclude that this was a free standing house, but was extremely concerned about the danger of this obstruction. I sent photos and called repeatedly. The very least I would expect is to see a warning.

There is a former White Sox player who would make a great manager: A.J. Pierzynski. He knows the pitchers from being a great catcher. He’s intelligent with a great feel for the game. He isn’t afraid to tell it like it is if a player is a brain-dead and makes mistakes. He would bring back the frustrated fans.

I have an idea: Take away all the free phones we supplied to the underprivileged kids who use them to gather downtown and turn into riots. That might be a start.
