Art in Wilder Park is back for its 26th annual gathering of artists and artisans, food vendors and community organizations eager to welcome an estimated 8,000 visitors to the free event.
Art in Wilder Park runs this weekend, May 6 and May 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 175 S. Cottage Hill Avenue, close to the city’s museums, library and train station.

The event, a partnership between the Elmhurst Art Museum and the Elmhurst Park District with consulting by RGL Marketing for the Arts, will feature over 125 exhibitors selling one-of-a-kind jewelry, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints, fiber arts and other artwork in booths set along the park’s accessible walking paths. A Kids Court for family activities is also part of the event.

“The Elmhurst Art Museum is excited to expand Art in Wilder Park with more exhibiting artists from across the Midwest and attract new audiences with a ‘super’ public art installation this year,” John McKinnon, Executive Director of the Elmhurst Art Museum, said in a news release.
This year’s festival includes a newly commissioned public art installation: Superheroes in Wilder Park. The Superheroes art installations feature life-size superhero sculptures by area artists and youth groups. On view from May 6 to July 31, Superheroes in Wilder Park is a dramatic preview of the museum’s summer show — Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross, which will run from June 3 through Aug. 20.

Alex Ross’s superhero and comic book art will be featured in Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross in the Elmhurst Art Museum beginning in early June.
Ross is considered one of the greatest artists in the field of comic books. Ross has revitalized classic superheroes into works of fine art, illustrating characters such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from the X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther, and many more.
