The following items were taken from area police department reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Elmhurst

Alcohol

Lance Alexander, 60, of the 900 block of South 7th Avenue, Maywood, was cited for possession of alcoholic liquor in a motor vehicle and trespass to a motor vehicle at 8:32 p.m. April 24 after police answered a call about someone refusing to leave a taxi.

Alexander, this time with an address on the 1500 block of N. Sedgwick Street, Chicago, was cited again for disorderly conduct — public intoxication and possession of open alcohol in public at 11:39 a.m. April 25 in the lobby of the Elmhurst Police Department, where police said he was intoxicated and had several open bottles of alcohol.

Alexander was again cited for possession of alcohol in public and issued a No Trespass notice at 9:32 a.m. April 26 after police responded to McDonald’s, 190 E. Butterfield Rd., for a call about an intoxicated subject. His Chicago address was listed.

Animal neglect

Patrick Beliczynski, 40, of the 300 block of Shady Lane, Elmhurst, was cited for having a barking dog and failing to have dog license at 1:31 a.m. April 23 after police responding to complaints said the dog was in a patio area without access to food, water or proper shelter.

Battery

Kevin Johnson, 33, of the 200 block of North Addison Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with battery and given a No Trespass notice for Fitz’s Pub, 172 N. Addison Ave., after allegedly punching a security guard who was escorting him out of the bar for inappropriate behavior toward staff.

Burglary

Devell Robinson, 30, of the 7500 block of South Wentworth Avenue, Chicago, was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle without damage and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle at 6:54 p.m. April 23 in connection with the burglary of a car in the 200 block of North Melrose Avenue earlier that afternoon.

Cannabis

Brion Mims, 22, of the 100 block of Central Avenue, Chicago, was cited for failing to use a seat belt, possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle and driving with registration suspended for failing to have insurance at 9:57 a.m. April 21.

Julio Rico, 26, of the 2300 block of South Troy Street, Chicago, was cited for possession of cannabis by a driver, driving without insurance and disobeying a stop sign at 11:13 p.m. April 21.

Disorderly conduct

Andrew Guzzo, 39, of the 100 block of North Cedar Avenue, Wood Dale, was issued a No Trespass notice and cited for disorderly conduct at 9:23 p.m. April 25 after allegedly threatening an employee at a McDonald’s drive-up window.

DUI

Gilberto Guzman, 54, of the 800 block of North York Street, Elmhurst, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol at 9:51 p.m. April 22.

Jake Sherwood, 23, of the first block of 27W Cooley Road, Winfield, was cited for driving under the influence, speeding, failing to signal when required, illegal transport of alcohol and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver at 11:56 p.m. April 22.

Forgery

A resident reported April 26 that a check he mailed had been stolen, altered and cashed.

Another resident reported a similar tale, going back to February.

Fugitive from justice

Audwin Griffith, 50, of the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue, LaGrange, was charged with being a fugitive from justice at 5:41 p.m. April 25 after Elmhurst police were told he was wanted on an Ohio extradition warrant.

Identity theft

A resident reported April 17 that she was notified by Kohl’s that an unknown offender tried to open an account in her name.

A resident reported receiving a mailed phone bill in mid-April for an account she never opened. The account was closed and the credit bureaus notified.

A resident reported on April 24 that someone tried unsuccessfully to use his information to open a credit card account.

A resident reported on April 19 that someone tried to use her information to apply for a loan from the Small Business Administration.

A resident reported on April 25 that an unknown suspect used his information to file a 2021 tax return and had received a check from the Internal Revenue Service. The resident notified the IRS that the filing was fraudulent.

A resident reported on April 25 that she was notified by a collection agency that she owed money on a vehicle bought in her name, but not by her.

A resident reported on April 25 that after a phone conversation in early April with an unknown suspect, he discovered fraudulent charges on his bank account.

Kazeal Chowdhury, 46, of the 3900 block of Carpenter Street, Detroit, was charged with identity theft at 8:53 p.m. April 25 after his vehicle was stopped and he allegedly admitted to using recently stolen credit cards for purchases in an area store.

Theft

Merchandise was reported stolen from Jewel-Osco, 153 E. Schiller St., by two suspects who left the store without paying at 12:10 p.m. April 20.

E-cigarettes were reported stolen from Elmhurst Food and Liquor, 416 N. York St., at 4:25 p.m. April 23 by three suspects who fled on foot.

Letarn Harris, 41, of the 400 block of West Division Street, Villa Park, was charged with retail theft of two pairs of gym shoes from Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83, at 2:11 p.m. April 24.

Merchandise was reported stolen from Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83, about 7:30 p.m. April 25 by two suspects described as Black women in their twenties.

Traffic violations

Zackary Strutton, 18, of the 800 block of Devon Street, Independence, Mo., was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving without insurance and unlawful display of registration at 9:40 p.m. April 20.

Daniel Pena, 38, of the 6200 block of North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving with suspended registration and driving without insurance at 11:28 p.m. April 21.

Luca Ferrantelli, 20, of the 2400 block of North Finley Avenue, Lombard, was cited for operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device and disobeying a stop sign at 4:49 p.m. April 24.

Thomas Beata, 25, of the 100 block of Burlington Avenue, Clarendon Hills, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and driving with expired registration at 8:45 p.m. April 24.
