Two playground renovations will be done this summer with the Naperville Park Board’s approval of contracts to purchase and install new equipment and amenities.

Gartner Park’s playground will be renovated by D&J Landscape for $150,312 and Hobson Grove playground work will be done by Innovation Landscape for $122,962. Playgroundsafe had submitted the low bid of $92,792 for the latter project but failed to include a complete bid proposal.

Work is to begin this spring or summer to add to playground equipment at Hobson Park in Naperville and to plant trees along the sidewalk, Naperville Park District officials said.

Both parks will get new play equipment, picnic tables, benches, and picnic shelters and new shade trees are to be planted along the Hobson Grove sidewalk. Gartner’s parking lot will be resurfaced this year and 10 more parking spots added.

Work is to start this spring or summer and should take eight to 12 weeks to complete, officials said.

The board also awarded a $104,060 contract to Integrated Lake Management for the 2023 shoreline restoration at Stanford Meadows.

This year’s phase of the project will entail removing invasive and unhealthy trees and shrubs, placing coir roil to cut back on erosion, minor grading to stabilize the slope and planting native seed across about 1,000 linear feet along the eastern portion of both sides of the creek up to Keim Road.

The second phase, to be done in 2024, is set to restore the part of the creek that runs from Keim Road to the pond at Hunters Woods.
