Foxx experienced the issue Tuesday, said his family, though they didn’t specify what was ailing the actor.
“Due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” reads the announcement, which his daughter Corinne Foxx shared late Wednesday on Instagram.
“We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the family’s statement continued. “The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love.”

The 55-year-old Foxx is doing well despite the emergency being labeled as “serious,” according to TMZ. However, he’s expected to remain hospitalized for a few days as doctors run tests.
Foxx currently has the Netflix action-comedy “Back in Action” in the works, starring alongside Cameron Diaz in her first film since 2014’s reimagined “Annie.” Foxx also starred in “Annie.”
Last month, Foxx attended the 2023 Miami Open tennis tournament in Miami Gardens, Fla., and sang “Happy Birthday” to Quentin Tarantino at an event in London. Tarantino directed Foxx in 2012’s “Django Unchained.”
Foxx won best actor at the 2005 Academy Awards for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the musical biopic “Ray.” More recently, Foxx starred alongside daughter Corinne in the 2021 Netflix sitcom “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me.” The father-daughter pair also host the game show “Beat Shazam” on Fox.
