March 30, Opening Day for the Major League Baseball season. Both our Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs were in action. But as I’m looked at the comics page of the Daily Southtown, the Fred Basset strip shows Fred and his dog friends cheering on the boys of the neighborhood in their first game of the season, not playing baseball, but playing football. Did Fred Basset cartoonist Alex Graham not know it was opening day of baseball?

I read the story about a Trump/DeSantis alliance being unlikely. This is why we should suspect all politicians. I believe they both have similar, strong but different ways to achieve it. It seems their individual personal egos/goals are splitting them and come before what they’re trying to convince voters. A Trump/DeSantis ticket would mean our country’s growth, respect and prosperity for at least 12 years under strong, conservative Republican leadership.

Only under the Democratic Party do the innocent get punished and the guilty go unpunished. How about Hillary Clinton and the rest of them, Biden’s son and all that? They should be prosecuted, Al Sharpton and all of them.

To the two Dans, you are absolutely right, let’s throw in the towel and turn schools into armed fortresses. Forget about guns, let’s arm every one, even the first graders. We can’t even think about doing something about guns. Yes, mental health is part of the problem, but not all shooters would necessarily be classified as mentally troubled. How about neo-Nazis, anti-Semites and racists? There are solutions out there if we are willing to try them.

I would just like to pose this question to Republicans in Congress. What if you child was shot and killed? Would you still take the position that there is nothing you can do about changing the gun laws? Also, how many millions do the Republicans get from the National Rifle Association? The NRA tells everyone that the government is going to take you guns away, how ridiculous can that be? Everyone that supports some type of gun control, remember the Republicans that sit on their hands and mouths shut.
