Cooperation mandatory: Americans want confidence with facts of the Jan. 6 insurrection. Those asked to supply testimony must cooperate with the DOJ investigation procedure by making it mandatory if they are called. No one should be allowed to avoid this responsibility when the goal is to investigate the facts. Let’s stop hiding or confusing facts from accusations.
Best and worst of times: Donald Trump, the slipperiest of fishes, could not escape the wide net of Alvin Bragg, the district attorney of New York City. And while it’s a sad day historically for America, it’s the grandest of times for our democracy.
Desalination a better option: After reading the article on water shortages in the American Southwest, it seemed to me that all the debate was one sided and concentrated on restricting water demand. Why can’t California and the federal government increase supply by building a desalination plant by the ocean? The cost is high, but spreading the annual cost over 10 years of building it could lead to a more affordable annual cost.
Checks are stressful: Who’d have ever thought paying a bill with a check in the mail would be so stressful — waiting for it to clear and hoping it won’t be snatched in transit, washed and altered? To anyone out there who receives checks, please don’t hold them for a week or two, leaving customers wondering if they’ve safely arrived. And to anyone who says to bank or pay online, the ongoing reports of data breaches don’t make that any safer.
Where’s mine? I’m a senior citizen and I want to get in line for that $500,000 forgivable loan that the craft marijuana business people are getting. I just need it for medicine food and rent, not growing pot.
Better under Trump: What has our wonderful Democratic president done in the last three years? The country is in its worst shape in 40 years, highest retail gas prices, every price is way up. The stock market is tanking, banks are collapsing. People aren’t working. It doesn’t take a genius to see that this country was much better shape under Donald J. Trump. Wake up and face reality.
Not so hush-hush: Why do they call it hush money? The whole world knows Stormy Daniels was paid $130,000 for services rendered, and they were rendered. The only question that remains is if the service as provided took 13 hours at $10,000 per hour or 10 minutes at $13,000 per minute.
