Max Accettura, Vernon Hills, senior, 285 pounds: Ended high school career by finishing sixth in Class 2A. Went 40-7.

Anthony Alanis, Grayslake Central, junior, 106: Followed his runner-up finish in 2022 by defeating Wauconda’s Gavin Rockey in an 8-6 decision to win the 2A state championship. Went 44-1.

Edgar Albino, Antioch, junior, 132: Finished fourth in 2A. Went 34-5.

Scott Busse, Lake Zurich, senior, 145: Finished high school career by placing fifth in 3A. Went 47-5.

Aiden Cohen, Deerfield, senior, 170: Wrapped up high school career by finishing third in 2A, two places better than last season, with a 10-2 major decision against Crystal Lake Central’s Cayden Parks. Went 47-5.

Lorenzo Frezza, Stevenson, senior, 138: Finished high school career by defeating Hinsdale Central’s Cody Tavoso for third place in 3A. Went 42-1.

Gavin Hanrahan, Antioch, sophomore, 113: Placed eighth in 2A. Went 30-9.

Matty Jens, Grayslake Central, junior, 182: Capped an unbeaten season with a 9-1 victory against Joliet Catholic’s Nico Ronchetti to win the 2A state championship after losing in the final a year earlier. Went 35-0.

Matt Kubas, Libertyville, junior, 170: Finished fourth in 3A. Went 42-9.

Royce Lopez, Warren, freshman, 160: Placed eighth in 3A to complete impressive first season. Went 39-14.

Cole Matulenko, Libertyville, senior, 195: Pinned Marist’s Peter Marinopoulos in record time — just 31 seconds — to win the 3A state championship and finish his high school career on top. Went 44-4.

Caleb Nobiling, Antioch, senior, 145: Ended high school career by defeating Mattoon’s Aidan Blackburn for third place in 2A. Went 38-9.

Nate Randle, Wauconda, freshman, 113: Made a splash in his first season, losing a 3-2 decision to Chatham Glenwood’s Drew Davis in the Class 2A state championship match. Went 31-9.

Jordan Rasof, Deerfield, sophomore, 126: Placed sixth in 2A. Went 44-8.

Gavin Rockey, Wauconda, sophomore, 106: Finished as the 2A runner-up after losing to Grayslake Central’s Anthony Alanis in the state championship match. Went 29-6.

Aaron Stewart, Warren, freshman, 152: Wrapped up dominant first season by edging Batavia’s Kaden Fetterolf 4-3 for third place in 3A. Went 43-2.

Anthony Streib, Antioch, senior, 138: Finished high school career by winning 8-2 decision against Lemont’s Sammy Schuit for third place in 2A. Went 27-4.

Tyler Weidman, Grayslake Central, junior, 126: Placed fourth in 2A. Went 40-13.

GIRLS FIRST TEAM

Ava Babbs, Lakes, junior, 125: Pinned Camp Point Central’s Amber Louderback to earn third place at state. Went 22-5.

Ileen Castrejon, Zion-Benton, junior, 170: Pinned Oak Park-River Forest’s Trinity White to earn third place at state. Went 20-9.

Annika Cottam, Lake Forest, senior, 105: Won a 7-2 decision against Glenbard North’s Nadia Shymkiv to earn third place at state. Went 20-6.

Ayane Jasinski, Grant, junior, 110: Followed fourth-place finish last season with a state title, beating Lincoln-Way Central’s Gracie Guarino 2-0 in overtime in the championship match. Went 21-3.

Snow Khi, Grant, senior, 105: Finished high school career by placing eighth at state. Went 22-9.

Riley Kongkaeow, Round Lake, freshman, 100: Finished eighth at state to cap first season. Went 23-9.

Josie Larson, Lakes, sophomore, 190: Finished fifth at state. Went 15-4.

Noelani Rodriguez, Waukegan, junior, 125: Made second appearance at state. Went 28-8.
