The rebuilding of the Kennedy Expressway’s 36 bridge decks is completely unnecessary. There are going to be jackhammering out structurally sound reinforced concrete near that should last hundreds of years with routine maintenance using high-quality cement.

We are heading into the 2nd quarter of 2023 and I ask anybody to tell me a single piece of meaningful legislation that has been passed by this Republican Congress to benefit the average American. And no, creating kangaroo court committees to investigate the weaponization of the Justice Department, Hunter Biden’s laptop and Twitter is not legislation, it is theater and trolling.

I just read what U.S. Rep. Sean Casten said about undocumented immigrants filling jobs that business can’t fill. My father came to this country legally and had to be screened at Ellis Island. We can’t take care of are own citizens but our government is going out of the way to support undocumented immigration and also who are illegally crossing our borders. What’s wrong with this picture? I think Casten needs to look at our own citizens first.

State Rep. Anthony DeLuca is sponsoring HB 1367 which requires that cremation remains of loved ones must be interned to a cemetery grave as opposed to remaining with the loved one. Why? At the committee meeting more than 200 opponents spoke against the bill and 20 for it. We need further explanation from DeLuca for need of this bill.

I read that state Rep. Anthony Deluca has introduced a bill that would require grieving families purchase a cemetery plot if they want their loved ones ashes after cremation. I wish he would put that energy into clean water for University Park and lower property taxes for the constituents he is supposed to be representing. I wonder why is he so interested in the funeral home business?

Reading about what sounds like more than a mere glitch in the second phase of Tinley Park’s Boulevard project brings back memories of the inexcusable debacle of the destroyed historical Bremen Cash Store building and the pile of rubble left in its wake. Hopefully, the village will do a better job of this latest mess, not left sitting there for years to come.
