
Little Caesars coming to Frankfort
Pizza, pizza will soon be available in southwest suburban Frankfort when the new Little Caesars opens. The national chain is building a new carryout location at 20245 S. LaGrange Road in the Frankfort Commons II shopping center.
A special use permit for the pizzeria was approved by the Frankfort Village Board last year.
No opening date has been announced for the new location, but the company has a hiring sign on the front window of the store.
The closest Little Ceasars location to Frankfort has been a carryout restaurant at 160th Street and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park.
The chain was started in 1959 with a single restaurant in Garden City, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The chain has more than 4,000 stores, including 131 in Illinois.
Mama Luigi’s celebrates 75 years
Mama Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, 7500 S. Harlem Ave. in Bridgeview, will celebrate its 75th anniversary on March 17.
Established as Luigi’s Lounge and Grill in 1948 by Lewis and Evelyn Talerico, Mama Luigi’s, in its third generation, has grown over the years to become one of the longest family owned and operated businesses in the Chicago area.
Jersey Mike’s teams up with Blackhawks
Chicago Blackhawks Foundation is joining forces with 73 Jersey Mike’s Subs in the Chicago area for the 13th annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to support local charities. During March customers can make a donation at participating restaurants.
The Month of Giving campaign will culminate with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on March 29, when Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100% of the day’s sales to the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation.
“With every dollar raised during this incredible month of giving, we’re going to directly invest in programs and initiatives that aim to create a brighter future for the youth and families of Chicagoland,” said Sara Guderyahn, executive director of Chicago Blackhawks Foundation, which offers programs and financial and outreach opportunities to schools. The Foundation also offers a hockey curriculum designed for physical education teachers to bring the sport to their classroom, which includes the necessary equipment, teacher guidance and instruction, as well as in-person clinics to participating schools.
This March, Jersey Mike’s hopes to exceed last year’s national fundraising total of $20 million.
Throughout March, customers can make donations through the Jersey Mike’s mobile app or on-site.

Wintrust ends overdraft, item return fees
Wintrust Financial Corporation announced that it has stopped charging overdraft and item return fees for consumer deposit accounts at each of its community banks. Business accounts will remain under the existing overdraft and item return fee structure.
Timothy S. Crane, president of Wintrust, said the industry continues to move toward the use of financial education and notifications and away from account fees.
“We believe that eliminating these charges altogether and working with our consumer banking clients when low balances occur will strengthen our relationships with them,” he said.
SXU to host College-to-Career Expo
Saint Xavier University will host the spring College-to-Career Expo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 in the Shannon Athletic and Convocation Center, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.
The job fair is open to all SXU students, alumni and community members, and offers the opportunity to meet a variety of employers from government agencies, companies and nonprofit organizations.
Students will learn about potential careers in industry sectors, network with employers, and submit resumes, either in person or online. This event is a great opportunity for students to practice their interviewing skills, learn about opportunities in their chosen field, and build confidence and poise as they take that next step into the work force.
