Aldi sets March 15 grand opening for new Orland Park store

Aldi has scheduled the grand opening of its store in Orland Park for March 15, according to the grocery’s website.

The new store at 11200 W. 179th St. is one of 150 new locations the grocer plans to open this year as it works to become the third largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of this year.

Aldi typically gives early-bird customers an assortment of gift bags and gift cards when opening a new store.

It will be the second Aldi store for the village. There is one at 131st Street and La Grange Road. There’s also a location at 20230 S. La Grange in nearby Frankfort.

Andy’s Frozen Custard opens in La Grange Park

Missouri-based Andy’s Frozen Custard opened its newest Chicago area location in January at 531 N. La Grange Road in La Grange Park.

The frozen custard chain will hold its grand opening on Thursday, March 16, with $2 sundaes all day. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Guests will be able to spin the wheel to win prizes including free frozen custard for a year.

The new location is the former site of Philip’s Flowers and the Original Pancake House.

The Village Board voted unanimously a year ago to approve the new Andy’s. It’s the chain’s 15th Chicago area location and the 127th store in the chain. The first one in the Chicago area opened in Oak Lawn more than a decade ago.

The new Andy’s will feature a drive-thru and walk-up service window, and an outdoor dining area.
