To the editor:

This letter is written as a good will gesture and appeal to use the following information for the public. Please publish all or any of the following to honor the anniversary of the horrific, unprovoked war on Ukraine by Russia.

Ukraine has been brutally attacked and invaded by its neighbor Russia

February 24 marks the one year of unprovoked and aggressive war on a sovereign and democratic, free nation Ukraine

We, Americans are well-informed of the genocidal motivations of the Russian imperialism of Vladimir Putin

Freedom loving people decry and protest the brutal regime of Russia

We, Americans of Ukrainian descent are grateful to all the American people, the government and President Joe Biden, in particular, for the financial, military, moral and humanitarian support

We admire the stoic heroism of the Ukrainian people and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukrainian citizens have endured: death, torture, rape, murder and extreme deprivation: lack of heat and electricity, constant air-raid sirens and bombardment at the hands of Russian soldiers. Civilians, especially children, have all undergone homelessness and other extreme trauma and hardships

Let’s stay in solidarity for all Ukrainians who are living through all the above chaos on this sad anniversary

Please pray for Ukraine and its people

Sincerely,

Irene Pyskir Bilak, Northbrook

Member of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Chicago Branch 29
