Mayor Lori Lightfoot blames Paul Vallas for saying let’s take our city back She doesn’t know what it means. Hey Mayor Lightfoot, take a walk downtown by yourself, not with all your bodyguards, and see what happens. People want our city back where you can go downtown at night, go to a movie, have some dinner and not have to worry about getting held up, robbed and your car taken. That’s what Vallas means and that’s what Chuy Garcia means.

Ken, Burbank

Lori Lightfoot basically said if you’re not going to vote for me, your vote would be for Chuy Garcia and Paul Vallas. It’s kind of racist. Kind of like when Biden said if you vote for Trump, you ain’t Black. Very racist.

Jimbo, Chicago Heights

It is my opinion that if Lori Lightfoot is reelected, the murders will continue, people will be running out of Chicago and taxes will be higher. But you can have what you want if you vote for her and she gets in.

Tom, South Chicago Heights

Truthfully, the Bears were thinking of moving before Lightfoot. However, Lightfoot’s open racial rants, our downtown Black Lives Matter destruction, defunding the police and her doing absolutely nothing to deter Chicago’s daily shootings, killings and car hijackings were probably the last nail in the coffin for their decision to move before the entire city explodes.

Pete Buttigieg, our transportation secretary, said the derailment in Ohio is nothing to worry about because we have a thousand train derailments a year This is the guy that takes a vacation like every month and the only reason he got the job is because he’s a gay man. He was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and he messed that up. These Democrats, they will destroy this country if we keep voting that way.

Tom, Burbank

Bill, in our capitalist system if you defame a company and your defamation hurts their bottom line you are likely to get sued. This is what Smartmatic and Dominion are doing to FOX, for spreading lies about their products, even after it was warned that they would get sued. It is not the Democrats, it is the system, get it straight. Lies have consequences, and so far the courts have supported the companies in their lawsuits.

Paul, Tinley Park

Now we find out that Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity all knew the 2020 presidential election was legitimate but played up the fraud conspiracy simply to assuage their viewers and maintain ratings. Talk about blatant yellow journalism!

Wes, Orland Park

Living in America where we can express ourselves because we have free speech is a rewarding experience. However, when it becomes abused by news station, like cable Fox News did during the 2020 election, is flat-out disgraceful. They did it for the ratings. Fox News stars knew Trump’s claim that the election was stolen from him was a flat-out lie, but the network was worried about losing their viewers so they gave them what they wanted to hear. If Fox News is eliminated, they are the ones to blame.

The Democrat government of New York City puts people who entered the USA illegally in a luxury hotel, feeds them, gives them medical care. Meanwhile the people of East Palestine, Ohio, suffering through a train derailment with six toxic chemical spills, a controlled burn, polluted ground and streams is told by the Democrat Environmental Protection Agency, just trust us.

David, Tinley Park

A game of basketball has become a freak show. Players today can jump higher and are giants whose head almost reaches the rim of the basket. Three-point shooters dominate. They have to raise the basket to 12 feet, move the 3-point back two feet. Let’s make it a little harder.

Mr. G, Chicago

At a recent college basketball game in Evanston, a young man stepped onto the court who was a vital part of the host team for three years, scoring nearly 10 points per game. In the years he played, the team struggled yet he spoke positively. This time, as a transfer, he wore another school’s uniform. That night he scored just once, a chorus of vulgarities continuously directed at him. Later that week, Miller Kopp tweeted: Love > Hate, making him the true winner versus those sad people who call themselves fans!

Christine, Evergreen Park

To Gary from Oak Forest, I’m in the same boat as you. It’s only a matter of time before simple Ted Slowik or some of the other so-called columnists write a story blaming Trump for earthquake or derailment. I get a kick out of how people still believe the leftist agenda and will do everything possible to discredit Trump. I definitely remember just a couple years ago how nice it was to fill up my tank for a few bucks or how nice grocery shopping was. Surely not the case anymore.

Tom, Garfield Ridge

Could somebody explain to me why Kim Foxx is still in office? She let three 13-year-olds who killed somebody out under parents. What’s up with the Jussie Smollett case? Also, this mayor of Chicago, her advertisement are nothing but lies, lies, lies.

Bruce, South Side

To Tom of Garfield Ridge, I’ll be willing to listen carefully to your criticisms of Professor Paul Krugman once you have received, as he has, the Nobel Prize in economics.

George, South Side

Plainfield Bill, I will never own an AK-47 for a democratically elected government to take away. I will feel safer, however, if his AK-47 is taken away. The only way our government could become tyrannical is if we voted it in, which I suspect we would never do. The only other way it could become tyrannical is if those who own AK-47s try to take over our government by force. But like the Capitol insurrectionists, they will fail even with their guns.
