Dave Palzet of Pleasantdale School District 107, an experienced educator and school administrator, has been selected as the Superintendent of Distinction for the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) Cook West region.
According to a news release, Superintendents of Distinction are selected by their peers in each of the 21 different regions based on leadership, communication, professionalism and community involvement.
“Being selected as the West Cook Superintendent of Distinction is an extra special honor because I was selected by my peers,” Palzet said in the release. “Superintendency can be a lonely job. It has always been my goal to support my peers and the good work happening throughout the state.”
Palzet is currently in his ninth year as superintendent of Pleasantdale, the release said. The district’s two schools have been recognized by US News and World Reports as outstanding elementary and middle schools.
According to the release, District 107 has implemented construction projects that improved learning experiences for students, expanded access to extracurricular activities at all levels, improved student outcomes as measured by the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The District has also implemented new curriculum in all academic areas, provided financial stability and achieved financial recognition, and expanded services for special education students through the implementation of a co-teaching model.
Palzet serves on the IASA-ISBE advisory committee, the Suburban Superintendents Association, and the West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence (president), the release said. He is an IASA School for Advanced Leadership (ISAL) fellow and has completed his National Superintendent’s certificate.
