Crete

SPRINKLER MISCHIEF: A Wisconsin man charged with trying to kill two unincorporated Crete residents was charged last week with criminally damaging property after causing the sprinkler to leak in his cell at the Will County Detention Facility. William Y. Liu, 36, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, told correctional officers on Feb. 8 he had committed the damage, saying he “was bored and began messing with the sprinkler,” sheriff’s police said. Liu, who allegedly shot and stabbed his estranged wife’s parents in their Shady Grove Court home, police said, has been in custody since December, originally charged with two counts of attempted murder and an array of felonies including multiple counts of home invasion and aggravated battery. Earlier this month he was additionally charged with solicitation of murder for hire after allegedly offering other inmates $20,000 to murder witnesses, according to Will County Circuit Court documents. Liu remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bond.

TRUCK BURGLARY: Straightline Landscaping’s 30th anniversary celebration was marred by thieves who broke into four work pickup trucks and stole exterior pod lights and four tool bags at the business in the 15800 block of Annico Drive on Jan. 22, Will County Sheriff’s Police reported Friday.

Lansing

BURGLARY DÉJ VU: Local police have tapped the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for help in investigating last week’s early morning break-in at a downtown gun shop. The Feb. 9 incident was the second in just over two weeks at Pelcher’s Shooters Supply and Gun Range, 18149 Henry St. The burglars used the same “smash” approach as in a Jan. 30 burglary at a sporting goods store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, according to exterior videos at the two stores. Police were alerted to Pelcher’s latest break-in by a 2:45 a.m. alarm. Exterior video shows one person hammering the store’s glass front door until he is joined by a second male, who kicks the door. As with the Chicago break-in, a white SUV is nearby. One of two interior videos released by police shows an armed and masked person “sweeping” the store with a handgun as he enters, followed by a second masked intruder holding something. The second interior video shows both males quickly grabbing hand-sized boxes from shelves. Police said no guns were missing, but declined to say if anything else had been taken. Police have released images of three individuals captured from interior store video. Lockport

BURGLARY THWARTED: Will County sheriff’s police are crediting a body shop towing operation’s alarm with disrupting a gang’s attempted theft of several vehicles in unincorporated Lockport. Police reported Friday that six people emerged Jan. 22 from two cars and forced the garage door open at United Collision and Customs, 3003 State St. Video shows the group grabbing ignition fobs but then abandoning attempts to locate vehicles when an alarm activates, police said.

Oak Lawn

FUGITIVE FOUND: The third suspect in a 2022 home invasion near the intersection of 105th Street and Kenton Avenue is scheduled to appear at an extradition hearing in Houston, Texas, on Feb. 24, according to Harris County, Texas records. Anthony Mitchell, 31, Chicago, was taken into custody Feb. 6, following a 40-minute chase by Houston and state police. Mitchell is also charged in Houston with aggravated assault to a public servant and evading arrest, jail records show.

Orland Park

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Christopher Carlisle Jr., 35, 3200 block of Adams Street, Lansing, was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer Jan. 24 after kicking one of several officers attempting to take him into custody for disorderly conduct and assault, police said. Officers encountered Carlisle outside the Dunkin’ Donuts, 15615 Harlem Ave., where he had allegedly caused yelled and intimidated customers, police said. Carlisle, also accused of resisting arrest, allegedly attempted to bite the primary responding officer, who said Carlisle “chomped so hard that I could hear him bite,” according to reports.

DUI: William T. Connors, 58, 8900 block of 140th Street, Orland Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving Feb. 3 after knocking down a light pole at Concord and Yorktown drives, police said.

Park Forest

ARMED FELON: A 38-year-old Crete resident was arrested and accused of being an armed habitual criminal and being a felon unlawfully using a weapon after he was found asleep at the wheel Sunday morning with a loaded 9 mm handgun, police said. An officer who found Marchello K. Donalson, of the 1100 block of Country Court, slumped at the wheel at 5:15 a.m. at Indiana Street and Homan Avenue noticed the weapon protruding from Donalson’s pocket, police said. The gun, which was later determined to have been stolen out of Mississippi, was loaded with 13 rounds with one bullet in the chamber, police said. Donalson is on parole after serving 14 years in prison for aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated vehicular hijacking, armed robbery and aggravated unlawful restraint, police said.

Steger

ILLEGAL GUN: Anthony Brown, 48, 3500 block of Edward Drive, Crete, was arrested during a Feb. 5 traffic stop in that block and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a vehicle after officers recovered an undisclosed gun, according to police and Will County Circuit Court records. Brown is free on $10,000 bond, Will County records show.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Alyssa M. McGilvery, 35, 23900 block of Ashland Avenue, unincorporated Steger, is charged with aggravated battery stemming from a Feb. 4 incident in that block, according to Will County Circuit Court records online. McGilvery, taken into custody by Will County Sheriff’s deputies, remained in the Will County Adult Detention Facility Wednesday in lieu of $12,000 bond, sheriff’s records show.

POT ARREST: A traffic stop for allegedly driving without headlights in Steger turned into a felony drug bust for a 27-year-old Sauk Village woman when officers discovered 272 grams (nearly 10 ounces) of marijuana in the vehicle, police said. Lacey Ann Reid, of the 1900 block of 223rd Street, is charged with manufacturing/delivering 30-500 grams of cannabis and possessing 100-500 grams in connection with the Feb. 6 stop at 35th Street and Chicago Avenue, Will County Circuit Court records show. She is free on $20,000 bond according to court and Will County Sheriff’s records.

ARMED ROBBERY: A 29-year-old Crete man is accused of implying he had a weapon while robbing a Steger smoke shop last week, police said. Austin J. Tribble, 29, 1300 block of East Street, allegedly demanded money and merchandise from an employee at Vape Lordz, 3440 Union Ave., on Feb. 9. Steger police took him into custody Friday. Tribble was being held without bond Wednesday at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, accused of armed robbery, violating parole and obstructing justice/destroying evidence, according to sheriff’s records online.
