Alcohol
Lance Alexander, 60, of the 1500 block of North Sedgwick Street, Chicago, was cited for possession/consumption of alcohol in a public place at 11:46 a.m. Jan. 26.
Attempted deceptive practice
A resident reported on Jan. 17 that he applied for a job posted on a website and provided personal information to an unknown caller. He later received a check with instructions to deposit it in his bank account, but determined the job posting and the check were fraudulent.
Deceptive practice
A resident reported Jan. 26 that he had sent funds via bitcoin to an unknown suspect between Nov. 3 of last year and Jan. 21.
An employee of Commercial Carpet Consultants, 893 N. Industrial Dr., was deceived into transferring funds to another company before discovering the company’s server had been hacked, as reported on Jan. 27.
Drugs

Michael Moroney, 60, of the 700 block of North Howard Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane use at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
DUI
Joy Street, 34, of the 500 block of North Laramie Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, resisting a police officer, driving with a suspended driver’s license, operating a vehicle in an unsafe condition, using unsafe tires, driving with expired license plates and improper lighting at 8:09 p.m. Jan. 27.
Charles Lawrence, 35, of the 1400 block of Lisbon Street, Morris, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, stopping in the roadway and transport of open alcohol at 1:42 a.m. Jan. 29.
In the same incident, Keandra Burns, 25, of the 5800 block of West Ohio Street, Chicago, was charged with obstructing identification, possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle by a passenger and possession of open alcohol by a passenger.
Also in the same incident, Tajuana Burns, 26, of the 900 block of South Independence Avenue, Chicago, was charged with possession of open alcohol by a passenger.
Justin Nester, 39, of the 100 block of East Van Buren Street, Villa Park, was charged with driving under the influence, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, failing to signal when required and speeding at 10:25 p.m. Jan. 29.
Emily Lech, 40, of 300 block of North Maple Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and speeding at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 1.
Forgery
An unknown suspect reportedly obtained a business check from The Law Firm of R.M. Dreger, 910 W. Van Buren St., Chicago, and cashed it between Dec. 22 and Jan. 24.
Identity theft
A resident reported on Jan. 26 that an unknown suspect used his information to open a bank line of credit between May 1 and Dec. 31 of last year.
A resident reported on Jan. 31 that an unknown offender used his information to fraudulently file tax documents through the Internal Revenue Service.
Theft
A catalytic converter was reported taken from a white Ford E350 van in a lot of PGW Auto Glass, 430 W. Fullerton Ave., at 5:05 a.m. Jan. 27. A dark colored SUV with Georgia plates was seen leaving the lot.
Lance Alexander, 60, of the 1500 block of North Sedgwick Street, Chicago, was cited for retail theft of five magazines from Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Dr., at 11:28 a.m. Jan. 27.
A catalytic converter was reported taken from a vehicle on Willow Tree Court, The Atrium, between Jan. 23 and Jan. 25.
Eduardo Cruz, 32, of the 100 block of Linden Drive, Oswego, was charged with retail theft from Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83, at 1:29 p.m. Jan. 30 after allegedly leaving the store without paying for an electronic device. He was also charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license.
Cash was reported taken from the wallet of a resident of Park Place of Elmhurst, 1050 S. Euclid Ave., between Jan. 26 and Jan. 30.
Theft by deception
A resident who believed his Facebook account had been hacked was convinced by an unknown subject to buy Sephora gift cards to fix the problem between Jan. 25 and Jan. 26. The resident gave the gift card information to the unknown caller and also reported two fraudulent purchases made against his checking account.
A resident reported that a check she was to receive from her bank never arrived. She discovered that the check was cashed with a changed recipient name between Sept. 1 and Nov. 2 of last year.
Traffic
Jamel Adams, 31, of the 4700 block of West Congress Parkway, Chicago, was cited for improper use of registration and improper lane use at 2:20 a.m. Jan. 26 after allegedly displaying a fictitious Texas license plate.
John Aldas, 23, of the 1900 block of Westchester Boulevard, Westchester, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and driving without a rear license plate light at 11:22 p.m. Jan. 26.
Jose Semprun-Vargas, 32, of the 4300 block of Lawndale Avenue, Lyons, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding at 9:14 a.m. Jan. 28.
Tivonte Allen, 27, of the 4N100 block of Niles Avenue, Addison, was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance and improperly tinted windows at 11:01 p.m. Jan. 29.

John Messino, 42, of the 200 block of East North End Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license, driving without insurance, avoiding a traffic control signal and driving with expired license plates at 7:24 a.m. Jan. 30.
Marcos Salas Castaneda, 30, of the 1000 block of East Division Street, Lombard, was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license and driving with only one headlight at 12:16 a.m. Jan. 30.
William Solis, 34, of the 100 block of East Fremont Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, speeding, fleeing and eluding, obstruction, driving without insurance and possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle at 2:33 a.m. Jan. 31.

Omar Cayetano, 24, of the 1900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, possession of cannabis and failing to signal at 10:26 p.m. Feb. 1.
