Crete

WARRANT ARREST: David J. Dagostino, 41, Hebron, Indiana, was taken into custody on a Will County warrant for residential trespassing with a person present and two counts of criminal damage to property in unincorporated Crete during a Sunday Jan. 29 morning traffic stop by Crete police. The felony charges stem from an October 2021 incident that began when Dagostino became unruly while a guest at a home in an undisclosed block of Volbrecht Road, sheriff’s police said. Dagostino left the residence and home security surveillance captured him breaking windows on a van with a brick and shattering a second vehicle’s rear windshield with a large rock, sheriff’s police said. Dagostino remained in the Will County Adult Detention Facility Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bond, according to sheriff’s records.

RECKLESS DISCHARGE: Andrew S. Harvey, 36, 25400 block of Sangamon Street, unincorporated Crete, was charged with recklessly discharging a firearm and two counts of domestic battery Monday, according to Will County Circuit Court records.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A home was reported broken into and ransacked Jan. 3 in an undisclosed block of Village Woods Drive in unincorporated Crete. A resident also reported cash was stolen.

Chicago Ridge

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Stefan Szwab, 50, Chicago Ridge, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery after kicking two officers and also punching one during a Jan. 22 domestic-battery investigation in the 11000 block of Oak Avenue, police said. Szwab is additionally accused of domestic battery and resisting arrest, police said.

Frankfort

AUTO BURGLARY: Shelby Hurd, 32, Chicago, made his first appearance in Will County court Jan. 25 on charges of burglary and theft in Frankfort due to closed-circuit cameras that identified him as the person who broke into a car nearly 10 months earlier, police said. Officers investigating the March 5 break-in outside a pub in the 9500 block of St. Francis Road used surveillance video at the scene of the incident to identify Shelby Hurd’s getaway vehicle, and traffic cameras to read its license plate, police said. Hurd remains in the Will County Adult Detention Facility in lieu of $30,000 bond, according to sheriff’s records.

BOGUS BENS: Willie J. McGee III, 24, Chicago, was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility, Jan. 25 on two counts of fraud after attempting to pass one of the two counterfeit $100 bills at a grocery store, police said. Investigators recovered the second phony C-note from McGee during his arrest and contacted the Treasury Department, police said. He remained in the Will County Adult Detention Facility Tuesday in lieu of $20,000 bond, according to sheriff’s records.

CAR STOLEN: A 2019 Kia Sportage was reported stolen Jan. 3 from a driveway in the 8200 block of Auburn Lane in unincorporated Frankfort.

Lockport

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Forty firearms, a cellphone and a wallet were reported stolen Jan. 9 during a residential burglary in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue in unincorporated Lockport.

Mokena

NARCOTICS: Sean M. Velkavrh, 35, 17500 block of Winter Parkway, Tinley Park, was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility Monday on accusations by Mokena Police of illegally manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance, two counts of illegally possessing a controlled substance and illegally possessing 10-30 grams of adult use cannabis, according to sheriff’s records.

Park Forest

BATTERY: A 33-year-old Park Forest man grappled with officers during an early-morning Saturday traffic stop at Western Avenue and Sauk Trail for driving twice the posted speed limit, police said. Dushawn L. Mickey, 200 block of Berry Street, slapped and elbowed officers trying to place him in the back of the squad while being arrested for drunken driving and then repeatedly kicked a rear door after he was placed inside, police said. In addition to drunken driving, Mickey is accused of resisting a peace officer, two counts of battery, aggravated speeding and illegally transporting liquor, police said.

Steger

HOME INVASION: Bond was reduced to $75,000 Monday for a Merillville, Indiana man charged with home invasion with a dangerous weapon and criminal trespass to a residence with at least one person present, according to Will County Circuit Court records. Zachary C. Allen was arrested Jan. 25 on a warrant related to the alleged May 16 incident in the 300 block of 34th Street. Allen, who is also accused of criminally damaging property and domestic battery, forced his way into an apartment, yelled at two people, brandished a knife at them, yelled some more and left, police said.
