Two Chicago men were injured in Lincolnwood early Sunday morning after a shooting incident on Touhy Avenue, police said. A gun was found at the scene, they added.
An initial investigation indicates a 28-year-male and a 23-year-old male were injured as shots were fired from two separate cars just before 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Lincolnwood Deputy Police Chief Travis Raypole.
Officers found an abandoned and unoccupied 2011 Hyundai Sedan in the 4900 block of Touhy and both of the victims were believed to be in that car, according to Raypole. A second vehicle fled the scene, he indicated.
“This is an unusual case of non-Lincolnwood residents using our arterial streets as a thoroughfare to the Edens Expressway,” Raypole said.
The unidentified 28-year-old male was shot several times and was taken to Evanston Hospital where he was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon, according to Raypole.
The second male had what were described as “minor injuries” and was released from another local hospital, Raypole said.
The second individual did not cooperate with the investigation, according to police.
A bullet hole was located in a window at a local business, but no one was injured, Raypole noted.
A firearm was found at the scene and the investigation is ongoing, Raypole added.
