So activists are happy the phrase end racism is painted on the grass near football end zones. The players can wear slogans on the back of their helmets, like inspire change. What I’d like to see changed is the monopoly on the NFL’s social campaigns. Buckling to activists and athletes, the league has taken the position this one issue, racism, is more important than others and deserves indefinite attention and funding. Other issues are important. Perhaps next year, end child abuse should be painted near end zones, the year after, end domestic violence or support the elderly.

White Sox update. The White Sox have got to get a late game closer right now. Liam Hendrix is out with his illness, which leaves his Sox without a late game closer. It will cost some money, Jerry, but the results will be worth it. The team is ready to contend for the World Series.

In response to Ted Slowik’s column about sheriffs not enforcing the gun ban law. The sheriffs take an oath to defend the Constitution of the land of which the Bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments. If the state can pick and choose what laws of the Constitution they are going to enforce then why not the sheriffs? The cities seem to forget there are laws about illegal immigration as they set themselves up as havens for the illegals. That is going against the Constitution and, as Slowik put it, political grandstanding.

If and when Edward Burke and Michael Madigan finally go on trial, what is the defense going to be? Will it be Donald Trump put us up to it or will it be the Lawrence Wylie defense?

Jim, South Holland

ComEd a while back paid $200 million dollars and a bogus Democratic settlement called deferred prosecution involving Michael Madigan and bribery. Madigan still hasn’t seen a day in trial over that and ComEd now says they want a series of four rate hikes. So what is the incentive for anyone anymore not to commit crime? Madigan doesn’t go to trial, just raise the rates and we pay them.

Tom, Burbank

Jim from Lansing, did you even read your post? You say there is a double standard but President Biden admitted he had the documents and turned them over. Trump denied he had any documents and the FBI had to search for them. Not a double standard, just one person cooperating and the other a liar.

Mark, Orland Park

California’s oppressive gun laws aren’t working. Three mass shooting in eight days. I wish our politicians would realize that more gun laws aren’t the solution. We need real solutions, not just more laws so you can tell your constituents that you’re doing something.

Speak Out readers prepare! After six years of commenters’ lies, distortions and unsupported innuendo about Donald Trump, the Democrats have a new villain. We will now hear all the vile and evil things done by Ron DeSantis of Florida who is providing a government for the people of Florida, not the woke, not the big government manipulators nor the Democrat propagandists.

David, Tinley Park

It seems every day there is another report of finding classified documents in the home of a former high-level elected official. These reports amount to much ado about nothing. So what? If these documents threatened the security of the country, they’d be better protected. Even libraries lending low-priced books make customers sign and become accountable for return of the books. The media benefits from sensationalizing these findings. Yet, the federal government makes little effort to track or account for the so-called classified documents. Maybe it’s not all that important.

Jack, Oak Forest

If the dust settles and the gun law ends up going into effect, any sheriff that refuses to enforce it should be shown the door. It is not up to them to pick and choose which laws they like and will enforce.

Joni, Palos Hills

I saw Biden on television helping Ukraine, and I know this country has always helped other countries that were in need and I don’t regret that, that’s what we’ve always done. But I think he ought to get off it and start helping this country. Get things straightened out here with the prices going up on everything and jobs and that. This is crazy. He ought to work more on helping America instead of the other countries.

Cork, Manhattan

It’s not often I’ve thought, thank you, Donald Trump, but in this case, and though he did not acknowledge his administration’s $7 trillion contribution to the national debt, I’ll agree 100% for telling Republicans not to cut a single penny from the Medicare or Social Security. Our seniors worked and paid for their entire lives. Undoubtedly, he also understands that seniors are in the largest block of voters.

Mary, Tinley Park

Amazon is laying off thousands of people along with Microsoft. Bed, Bath and Beyond has filed for bankruptcy. Walmart has announced they will layoff also. People on food stamps will receive less because the increase they received during the pandemic will be taken away. Yet the Federal Reserve is not sure how much it will raise the interest rate. I know people working for the Fed have financial degrees and I am only dealing with the two-year college education plus the degree from hard rocks, but leave the interest rate alone. People are using their credit cards more to pay their bills.

BJ, Hazel Crest

Jimbo from Chicago Heights, you are so right about Lori Lightfoot and Biden. They’re both scary.
