The following items were taken from area police department reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Elmhurst

Battery

Christopher Dwyer, 35, of the 600 block of West Fay Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest at 6:53 a.m. Dec. 25.

Javed Spencer, 26, of the 4400 block of North Sacramento Avenue, Chicago, was charged with two counts of domestic battery at 12:55 a.m. Dec. 26.

Bryan Roehr, 35, of the 100 block of Bierman Avenue, Villa Park, turned himself in on a warrant for domestic battery on Dec. 27, charged following an incident on Sept. 11.

Deceptive practice

An unknown offender fraudulently returned items that hadn’t been purchased to At Home, 265 South Route 83, for a store credit, then used the credit to purchase an item before leaving the area about 5:48 p.m. Dec. 24.

A representative of Maher Publications, 188 W. Industrial Dr., reported on Dec. 28 that a check mailed earlier in December was cashed with a different recipient’s name.

Drugs

Brandon Colburn, 35, of the 45W500 block of John Street, Big Rock, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs and improper stopping/standing in the roadway at 2:57 a.m. Dec. 22.

DUI

Evelyn Patino, 47, of the 1300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, disobeying a traffic control signal and driving without insurance at 1:04 a.m. Dec. 23.

Robert Baskin, 37, of the 200 block of Bohland Avenue, Bellwood, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 5:24 a.m. Dec. 26.

Samuel Nicholson, 53, of the 6700 block of South Prairie Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of open alcohol by a driver and possession of cannabis by a driver at 2:37 a.m. Dec. 27.

Identity theft

A resident reported on Dec. 27 that an unknown suspect got access to her bank account and withdrew funds. Another resident reported on Dec. 28 a similar crime, in which someone made withdrawals from his bank account between Oct. 27 and Nov. 29.

Property damage

Damage was reported to the driver’s side mirror of a vehicle parking in the 200 block of North Indiana Street, during the afternoon of Dec. 25.

Stolen vehicle

A vehicle was taken from the employee parking lot of Elmhurst Hospital, 133 E. Brush Hill Rd., around 7 p.m. Dec. 27. Surveillance video showed an unknown suspect breaking a window to get into the vehicle, then driving away northbound on York St. The vehicle was later found unoccupied in Chicago.

Theft

A catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle on the 200 block of North Maple Avenue some time on Dec. 21.

Xavion Vargas, 20, of the 1600 block of South Cumberland Avenue, Park Ridge, was charged with burglary and attempted theft at 1:23 p.m. Dec. 26 after reportedly fleeing from the seller with a Rolex watch said to be valued a $8,800 which Vargas had agreed to buy.

A radiator cover was reported taken from a vehicle in the 600 block of North York Street on the afternoon of Dec. 28.

Andre Googler, 51, of the 400 block of West Madison Street, Maywood, was charged with retail theft, attempted possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:48 p.m. Dec. 28 after allegedly concealing liquor in his jacket and leaving Jewel Osco, 944 S. York St., without paying.

Traffic

Julian Lopez-Rivera, 31, of the 2300 block of St. Charles Road, Bellwood, was charged with driving with an obstructed front windshield and with improperly tinted windows and driving with a suspended driver’s license at 8:56 a.m. Dec. 24.

Angel Rivera, 32, of the 100 block of North 12th Avenue, Melrose Park, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and with disobeying a stop sign at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 26.

Keith St. Julien, 52, of the 9300 block of South Bennett Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, improper use of registration, driving without valid registration, driving without insurance and disobeying a traffic control signal at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 26.

Alvaro Gonzalez, 26, of the first block of King Arthur Court, Northlake, was cited for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, improper lane use and failing to give aid or information at 9:55 a.m. Dec. 27.

Adriana Pineda Guadarrama, 49, of the 900 block of South Jackson Street, Waukegan, was cited for driving without insurance at 7:42 a.m. Dec. 28.

Trespass

Yaman Obaid, 20, of the 1400 block of Van Buren Avenue, Des Plaines, was cited for trespass after reportedly moving a large barricade to enter the closed seventh level of the Addison Avenue parking deck, 149 N. Addison Ave., at 6:51 p.m. Dec. 24.
