Family and friends gathered Thursday night in the parking lot of a Comfort Inn & Suites in Bourbonnais, marking a year since Bradley police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and Officer Tyler Bailey were shot when responding to a call about barking dogs.

Rittmanic, 49, died at a nearby hospital and Bailey, 27, continues to recover from injuries.

The family of Rittmanic held the candlelight vigil in the parking lot of the hotel, with family and friends holding photographs, police themed flags and electronic candles.
