Biden deserves blame, not credit, for state of gas prices
Responding to a Speak Out item titled “Time to give credit,” the writer chastised the right for not thanking President Biden for bringing gas prices down to less than it was a year ago. The writer should remember that when Donald Trump left office, national gas prices averaged $2.39.
Currently, the average price of a gallon of gas is about $3.36. First-grade math tells me that is still about a dollar higher than when Biden took power. One of the first things he did was to destroy the energy sector by canceling oil and gas production in the USA.
When Trump left office, we were one of the largest exporters of energy. Now, we’re begging communist Venezuela to produce and sell us more, partially because Saudi Arabia refused to increase production.
The writer concludes by suggesting that those of us on the other side were “ready to tar and feather (Democrats) and hang them from the nearest light pole when prices were higher.” Conservatives don’t do that. We leave the violence, lies and informational manipulation to your side since you’ve proved you’re so good at it.
