The Hinsdale High School District 86 Board on Thursday approved the appointment of Michael Jezioro as the next athletic director for Hinsdale Central High School, effective July 1.
Jezioro, currently the athletic and activities director at South Elgin High School, will be replacing Dan Jones, who is retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
“I want to thank Dan Jones for his dedicated service, his leadership and his friendship during the past 12 years,” said Hinsdale Central Principal Bill Walsh. “Dan’s hard work and tireless commitment to our school have contributed to the greatness of our teams on the field, and, more importantly, to the success of our student-athletes off it. I truly appreciate all that he has done to grow and strengthen our athletic program, and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.”
Jezioro was selected following a comprehensive search process.
“I am excited to have Mike Jezioro joining our team here at Central,” Walsh said. “Mike is an accomplished coach and an experienced athletic director who will build upon the proud tradition of excellence that is the hallmark of our program. He is also a lifelong educator with a passion for learning, who will continue to emphasize the important role that academics plays in the growth and development of our student-athletes. I look forward to working with Mike and believe he will be a tremendous addition to our Red Devil family.”
Jezioro has spent the past five years as the athletic and activities director for South Elgin High School. He comes to Hinsdale Central with nearly 20 years of experience in secondary education and high school athletics, which has included stints as an assistant softball coach, assistant wrestling coach, head wrestling coach and varsity football coach. He also previously taught math at Westmont High School and Oswego East High School, and was a dean of students and summer school principal at Glenbard East High School.
Jezioro earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics, with a minor in secondary education from Elmhurst College and a master’s degree in education administration from Governors State University.
“I want to thank the board of education, Superintendent (Tammy) Prentiss and Principal Walsh for selecting me to be the next athletic director at Hinsdale Central,” Jezioro said. “I am honored to be joining a school and district that have set the standard for success. I am also excited about working with the members of Red Devil Nation to continue exploring ways that we can grow our program, redefine excellence, and help our students realize their full potential in all aspects of their lives.”
Jezioro received a one-year contract with a base salary of $160,000.
