Rest easy on benefits: I say relax to the reader who’s so afraid of losing his Social Security at the hands of the GOP. Democrats lie and there’s no truth that you have to worry about this, as Republicans have said time after time. So chill out and watch a different news channel if that’s where your news is coming from! If you are 70, you should receive 100% and then some.
Now that’s scary: A recent contributor to the Speak Out column expressed concern that a new Christmas movie featuring a crazed Santa with a hammer just might traumatize youngsters who still believe in the holiday icon. Frankly, I’m more concerned that a real life, hammer-wielding crackpot attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband and millions of adults seemed to care less. It’s about time our society gets in touch with reality.
Bad trade: Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for Brittney Griner. The punishment didn’t fit the crime. However, the U.S. sure didn’t negotiate a good deal by trading someone who committed a minor crime for an arms dealer known as the merchant of death. That will be one motivated arms dealer looking for revenge against the U.S. Hopefully it won’t come back to haunt us.
Not all men stupid: While watching television recently, I noticed women in commercials are always portrayed smarter than men. Men are portrayed as stupid. Women have all the right answers, the men do not. I know there are smart women out there, but there are also smart men. I think this is unfair.
Too much skin on TV news: On television news, the way women are now wearing their clothes — or should I say not wearing their clothes — is disgusting. They have everything hanging out, these middle-aged women with their low-cut tops and their real short skirts. What is next, having the men come in in Speedos? I won’t watch Channel 5 news anymore and Channel 7 is getting to be just as bad. It’s leaving us with not much to watch, especially when you have young girls in the house.
