At the Dec. 6 Caucus meeting, the endorsed candidates from the Caucus’s nominating committees for village board, Park District commissioner, library board of trustees and the Glencoe District 35 school board all received unanimous votes from the general membership.
“The slated candidates for the village, park, and library boards bring a wide range of talent to village government,” Caucus Co-Chairman Jon Ruderman said ahead of the meeting. “Their skill sets include expertise in municipal financing, security, diversity issues, and library stewardship as well as a deep understanding of park and recreation programming and environmental sustainability.”
Receiving the support of the Caucus is often seen as tantamount to being elected, as Caucus-endorsed candidates are rarely challenged.
With trustees Jonathan Vree and Peter Mulvaney set to leave the board after serving the traditional two four-year terms, the Caucus endorsed Georgia Mihalopoulos and Hilary Scott to join the village board.

Mihalopoulos is a member of the village’s plan commission and Scott is the co-chair of the village’s Council for Inclusion and Community.
The Caucus also renominated incumbent village board trustee Joe Halwax for a second term.
For the Glencoe Park District, incumbent Michael Covey was re-slated for a second term. Fellow incumbent Carol Spain, who was appointed to fill a vacancy in 2021, got the nod for a full term. Finally, to fill out the last two years of the unexpired term now being held by Spain, the Caucus selected Jordan Spector.
Current park board president Lisa Brooks, who was originally elected in 2015, will be leaving the board.
“I would have been honored to serve two more years but I think that it is reasonable to choose someone new who will be able to serve beyond the two years,” Brooks said. “I am hopeful and excited for what comes next.”
Ruderman responded by saying it was a “fair process.”
“In Glencoe we have a lot of talent and there is an importance to continuing to get new people into the system,” he said. “Glencoe is fortunate as we have a lot of people with a lot of skills in town.”

At the Glencoe Public Library, incumbent board president Linda Lin was re-slated for another term. Also, fellow incumbents Roger Parfitt and Jim Fiffer, who were appointed to fill vacancies during the two years, were slated for full four year terms.
To round out the process, residents Nan Weiss-Ham and George Krafcism were slated to fill out the last two years of the unexpired terms.
Incumbents Mabel Tung and John Tuohy are not running for election.
The School Board Nominating Committee re-slated incumbents Jason Kunreuther, Dev Mukherjee and David Napier for new four year terms as they were all initially elected in 2019.
Last month, the New Trier High School Caucus — which is a separate from the Glencoe Caucus — slated its candidates including Glencoe resident Jean Hahn, currently the New Trier board vice president.
The filing deadline for all candidates is Dec. 19, according to Cook County Clerk spokesman Frank Herrera.
The municipal elections are scheduled for April 4.
