Speak Out is a reader-generated column of opinions. If you there’s something you’d like to comment on in Elgin or beyond, send an email to [email protected]. Please include “speak out” in the subject line.

Elgin more than downtown: Ever wonder why you see so many FedEx, Amazon or UPS deliveries in Elgin? It’s because, for whatever reason, those in charge have not brought in retail stores as they have consistently claimed they will. Get rid of the DNA. Those businesses downtown do a great job promoting on their own. Honestly, address the homeless issue. Who wants to go downtown when you are harassed or see them camped out? Elgin has a few chain stores on the outer fringes of the city but there are no clothing or shoe stores, no book stores. It’s time to get some new thinking in this town. Quit dumping money into the downtown. Look at the WHOLE town for once.

New holiday classic: Chicago’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas: One casino erected… two carjackers arrested… three holidays renamed… four Bear victories… five Cubs acquired… six Bulls disabled… seven statues removed… eight cops assaulted… nine politicians indicted… ten schools shuttered… eleven mayoral announcements… twelve Starbuck openings and a shabby pigeon in a bare tree!

Easy way to avoid abortion: If pro-abortionists want control over their bodies then why not control the possibility of getting pregnant in the first place?

Not just a Dem thing: A Speak Out commenter said the states run by the Democrats are going down the toilet. I just would like to know why is it that eight of the 10 states with the highest violent crime rates in the country and eight of the 10 poorest, worst economies are run by Republicans. How does that happen? Just wondering.

Waiting for the truth: God bless the brave Elon Musk for revealing the truth, finally, at Twitter. Now the country and the world will know that the real corruption collusion and suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story came from the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Party directly. Heads should roll soon and investigations, especially Christopher Wray from the FBI. This makes Watergate look like a patched-up fraternity prank.

No fraud proof: There was no corruption in the Arizona elections. If there was, there would be full-scale investigations being overseen by the governor, secretary of state and attorney general of Arizona, all of whom are Republicans. An Arizona superior court judge, appointed by Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, ordered the Cochise County Board of Election Supervisors to certify the election. Why? Because there is no evidence of any corruption or malfeasance.
