The following items were taken from area police department reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Elmhurst

Battery

Nicole Ni, 35, of the 600 block of West Babcock Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with two counts of domestic battery at 10:35 p.m. Nov. 15.

Burglary

Credit cards and cash were reported taken from an unlocked van in the 200 block of North Walnut Avenue at 10:35 a.m. Nov. 10. Someone attempted to use several of the cards, but the transactions were declined.

The owner’s identification and other items were reported stolen from an unlocked truck in a driveway in the 200 block of South Villa Avenue between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14.

A vehicle was taken for a short ride after the owner left it unlocked and running outside the UPS Store, 205 E. Butterfield Rd., at about 2 p.m. Nov. 14. A suspect described as a short white female drove the vehicle to the east end of the Jewel Osco lot and left it there after taking cash which was left “sitting on the armrest.”

Cannabis

Monshea White, 49, of the 1200 block of 14th Avenue, Maywood, was cited for tinted windows and for possession of cannabis at 5:27 p.m. Nov. 12.

Daniel Palencia, 18, of the 300 block of Kimball Avenue, Elmhurst, was cited for possession of cannabis by a person under 21 years of age at 2:48 a.m. Nov. 13.

Deceptive practice

A resident reported Nov. 14 that someone hacked a relative’s email and convinced her to purchase Apple gift cards and forward the card information.

Disorderly conduct

Heather Gloria Griffith, 23, of the 17W400 block of Hill Street, Villa Park, was cited for disorderly conduct at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 13.

DUI

Janie Otero, 39, of the 9800 block of Garden Court, Schiller Park, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving with a suspended driver’s license, possession of cannabis and possession of open alcohol at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 11.

Leonel Alcantar, 29, of the 2700 block of South Trumbull Avenue, Chicago, was cited for driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver’s license and illegal transport of alcohol at 3:06 a.m. Nov. 13.

Forgery

A resident reported on Oct. 25 that a check she wrote and mailed was changed to a different payee, amount and signature and cashed.

Identity theft

A resident reported that an unknown person fraudulently deposited two checks through Chase Bank between Sept. 29 and Nov. 11.

A representative of an Elmhurst business reported that an unknown person fraudulently deposited a check through BMO Harris Bank between July 8 and Nov. 11.

A resident reported Oct. 30 that someone used his information to open a Verizon account.

Someone attempted to open three bank accounts in a resident’s name. The Nov. 2 attempt was reported Nov. 15.

A representative of Butterfield Towers, 260 E. Butterfield Rd., reported that a check mailed in October never reached the intended recipient but was deposited using a forged signature.

Theft

A representative of Sole House, 596 N. York St., reported a theft of services on Sept. 17 after paying an unknown suspect for a new business sign which was never installed.

A resident reported receiving an email confirming a tax refund check had been mailed, but he never received it. He notified the Illinois Comptroller’s office and was told the original check will be canceled and a new one issued.

Police are investigating a report that four checks mailed to an Elmhurst resident between Sept. 30 and Oct. 17 were never received.

Police are also investigating a Nov. 1 report that a mailed check never arrived.

A catalytic converter was reported taken from a vehicle in a lot of Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Rd., between 9 p.m. Nov. 10 and 8 a.m. Nov. 11.

A resident reported that after ordering six rings on Oct. 27, she only received five of the six rings shipped by mail.

A display with 50 mini Bic lighters was reported taken from Shell Oil, 654 W. North Ave., shortly before 6 p.m. Nov. 14 by a suspect described as a slim young Hispanic male.

Police are investigating the reported theft of a package apparently delivered to the wrong apartment in the 300 block of South West Avenue on Nov. 14.

A representative of Scotty’s Car Wash & Detailing Center, 199 W. Diversey Ave., told police on Nov. 16 that someone cashed a business check although the check was still in his possession and never issued.

Traffic

Jerry White, 27, of the 1600 block of South Millard Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance, driving with suspended registration and speeding at 8:48 p.m. Nov. 10.

Thomas Mazukelli, 74, of the 2600 block of 35th Street, Oak Brook, was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for driving without insurance at 2:45 p.m. Nov. 11.

Catherine Labunski, 35, of the 200 block of East Grantley Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and with suspended registration at 5:04 p.m. Nov. 11.

Lemona Walker, 49, of the 1100 block of Heather Lane, Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving with expired registration and driving with no insurance at 10:33 p.m. Nov. 11.

Tradell Graham, 28, of the 9900 block of South Wentworth Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and possession of cannabis at 4:43 p.m. Nov. 12.

Brian Adams Jr., 19, of the 400 block of South Argyle Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving with suspended registration, possession of fictitious identification and driving without insurance at 12:39 a.m. Nov. 13.

Edward Scales Jr., 26, of the 15500 block of South Park Avenue, South Holland, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving with expired registration and driving without insurance at 9:24 p.m. Nov. 13.

Francisco Contreras, 41, of the 1600 block of North 43rd Avenue, Stone Park, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and speeding at 9:55 p.m. Nov. 14.

Patrick Humphrey, 28, of the 14600 block of Atlantic Avenue, Dolton, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver and disobeying a traffic control signal at 8:23 p.m. Nov. 15.
