A woman was killed early Monday morning in Lincolnwood after her car slammed into a tree, Lincolnwood police said.
Shortly before 4 a.m., the driver of the car was heading eastbound and believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed when she hit a tree on the south side parkway in the 4300 block of Touhy Avenue, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Nov. 16 identified the woman as Consuela Jovita Pineiro, age 39, of the 8200 block Ridgeway Ave., Skokie, and said her death was ruled an accident.
The driver was the lone occupant of the car, police said.
Earlier in the week, Lincolnwood Deputy Police Chief Travis Raypole identified the victim as a woman, but declined to provide a name as police were still attempting to notify next of kin.
Following the crash, Touhy Avenue was shut down in both directions at the intersections of Crawford and Kostner, but was re-opened later Monday morning.
