Palos homeowners lauded for landscaping
The Palos Heights Beautification Committee held their Annual Keep Palos Heights Beautiful Award Night recently at Lake Katherine Clubhouse.
Award winners were presented with a certificate of recognition and a sign to put in their respective lawns. Barbara DeLeo and Amy and Luke Moustakas received the Home Award while Linda Schaefer and Pat and Bob Basso were among the Garden Award winners.
Kurland Insurance named Agency of the Year
Erie Insurance awarded Kurland Insurance of Orland Park with its 2022 Giving Network Agency of the Year Award for outstanding community service and donated $3,000 to the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation.
Led by agency owners Matthew and Ramona Kurland, Kurland Insurance and its employees have supported Toys for Tots since 2010.
EPCHS students earn College Board recognition
Evergreen Park Community High School students David Ortiz and Dulce Medina-Meza won the National Hispanic Recognition Award and Jamia Head, Kennedy Shelby and Rachel Thomas received the National African American Recognition Award from the College Board National Recognition Program.
Surratt earns spot on UW-Whitewater wheelchair basketball team
Matteson’s Rance Surratt, who is studying media arts and game development at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is competing on the men’s wheelchair basketball team for the 2022-23 season.

Augustana student leaders selected as inauguration delegates
Augustana College selected 40 students to be honored student delegates at the Oct. 15 inauguration ceremony of Andrea Kathryn Talentino. The delegates included New Lenox’s Jeremy Brown and Emily Luming and Orland Park’s Kylie Radz.
