Bar unfairly punished: I can’t believe East Dundee police and Liquor Commission would target a small bar because two people walked out with their drinks. A $2,000 fine and shut down for 30 days? Is a small place like this expected to hire more employees to stand at the front door and another at the gate? If someone buys a 6-pack at a liquor store and opens a beer when he leaves the store, should the store be closed for 30 days? In the winter, should they have customers remove their coats and be searched before leaving? I think wealthier competition has something to do with this. Close down small competitors.
Trump abusing trust: The 2020 election corruption claims were a contrived conspiracy by Donald Trump to bring doubt of his loss and to unify his followers with a bogus excuse. His denial turned into a major accusation of election fraud. Without credibility of proof, but using an established trust with his followers, they were willing to promote this conspiracy. A textbook example of trust being abused with loyalty ignorance!
Missing ‘good old days’: Democrats are so afraid Trump will run in ’24 that they’ll do and say anything. Gee, he might take us back to 1.5% inflation and $2.30 for a gallon of gas. Groceries were a normal price and it didn’t take half a paycheck to heat our houses and pay our electric bills! Now we look back on Trump’s four years in office and realize they were the new “good old days” that Biden quickly ruined as soon as he was inaugurated.
Words and actions: How is it that the person with the loudest mouth and smallest reservoir of credibility always comes across as the bravest and coolest once the crisis has passed? It’s come out recently that Sen. Ted Cruz hid in a storage closet during the riot on Jan. 6 and doesn’t that just figure!
Let’s limit both parties: Ted Slowik’s opinions regarding the Republican Party are so biased. I guess for him the devil you know is better than the one you don’t. Let’s face facts. You say the right-wing Republicans are more concerned about crime, inflation and billionaire elites tax cuts so they can get even richer. Another Speak Out contributor suggested limiting people like George Soros and Mark Zuckerburg donating the Democratic coffers. Not a bad idea for both parties to limit their funds from the wealthy.
Climate a non-issue: I really hate to burst the bubble of these entitled and sheltered college kids regarding their emphasis on climate change being a key and vital election issue. This does not even register on the priority topic scale at all to most voters. What are they teaching our kids at these major universities and colleges at ridiculous tuition and room and board rates anyway? Welcome to street university and the real world. Wow, are you in for a shock!
