Happy haunts are materializing at Naperville Public Library as Halloween quickly approaches! Children, teens and adults can get in the spirit of the season with spooky storytimes, creepy crafts and wicked writing contests now through the end of October.

CHILDREN
Halloween Storywalk at the Riverwalk, Nichols Library, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22:
Come in costume and enjoy a Halloween StoryWalk that combines the benefits of literacy, physical fitness and family fun. Pages from our featured fall-themed picture book will be posted along a designated path as participants read and stroll at their own pace. At the end of the StoryWalk, kids can pick up a fun activity bag.

Frankenscience, 95th Street Library, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25:
Create your very own monster using household supplies then test to see how it stands up to engineering challenges. And let’s be frank, they’re going to be spook-tacular!
Halloween on the Riverwalk, Nichols Library, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25:
Goblins, pumpkins and puppets, oh my! Children of all ages with an adult caregiver can dress in costume and enjoy Halloween fun at the Riverwalk Amphitheater. Get into the spirit with stories, songs and a puppet show about this favorite fall holiday.

Monster Mash, Nichols Library, 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, and 95th Street Library, 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28:
Calling all monsters! Dressed as a roar-some monster, stomp on over to the library for a monstrously good time as we read stories, roar around and create a monster craft. Perfect for children in K-2nd grade.

Something wicked this way comes… It’s the Frightful Nights Teen Writing Contest! Teen writers can submit their best creepy story, most horrific poem or darkest tale. Submissions can be made online or at any adult and teen services desk. Winners will be announced on Halloween!
2-Sentence Horror Story, now through Oct. 21:
Spooky season is here and so is your chance to terrify us with just two sentences! Submit your scariest two-sentence story about any ghoulish topic (400 characters or less) online or in-person at any adult and teen services desk. Winners will receive a $20 Downtown Naperville gift card.
