Pritzker donation: I just read that Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his family made a $20 million donation to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago to fund gender development. This is another attack on our children without parents knowing. What’s wrong with these people?

Protecting the wrong people: According to the law changes under the SAFE-T Act, if a person is on your property and you call the police, they will not be arrested or removed unless they are an obvious threat to the community or have an obvious medical or mental health issue that makes them a danger to themselves. Are we expecting our police officers to diagnose who has mental issues? How obvious should this danger be? And if these trespassers are not made to leave your property, are not the residents in danger and unsafe? Who is this SAFE-T Act supposed to protect? It seems to me our “informed legislators” have gotten this backwards. This portion of SAFE-T Act should be eliminated.

Memory lane: Loved Donna Vickroy’s column recounting our (baby boomer) youth. I have so many of the same situations of my youth and family like hers. The four of us on the loose. Those were the days. What a blast we had. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

No sympathy here: The embattled Father Pfleger might be a more sympathetic figure these days if only he didn’t enjoy his own bombastic rhetoric so much while simultaneously hogging the spotlight.

What’s he implying? The campaign ads for Alexi Giannoulias state he will end corruption in the secretary of state’s office, so is he saying retiring Jesse White was corrupt?

Sport cherry picking: As almost all coaches tell their players, football is a 60-minute game. Yet local sports writers emphasize statistics that represent only a partial effort, such as the Bears defense being dominant in the second half of games. Also, reporters cherry pick the plays they write about, like Darnell Mooney’s once in a career leaping one-handed catch. The Bears will not be a successful winning team until they are able to dominate for an entire game, despite what we read.
