Elmhurst police are investigating a Monday afternoon collision in which an inbound Metra passenger train struck and killed a man near the south platform of the Elmhurst train station.
Elmhurst officials identified the victim as Rashad Oliver, a 31-year old Lombard resident.
Elmhurst Police and Fire Department members responded to the scene at approximately 3:10 p.m. Monday (Oct. 10) and determined that Oliver had been struck on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks just east of the Addison Avenue/Cottage Hill crossing.
Witnesses reported seeing the man crossing the tracks from north to south as the eastbound train approached.
The incident remains under investigation by the Elmhurst Police Department, the Metra Police Department and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Elmhurst Police Department at (630) 530-3050.
